What are you doing with your pistol?

Similar. I use Buffalo bore +P+ 345 grain .44 cal. I don’t ever want to use it on a charging Brown bear but ballistically it’s designed to do the job.

Exactly...worried more about charging jersey bulls here...

Here in ky you can carry a pistol with you during bow season if you have ccdw. Witch I have to say I would do regardless. But I carry a glock in a inter wast band holster or my 1911. So what do you guys do with your pistol when you hunt out of your saddle. I have not wore a saddle but my first one should be here soon. But im not going to the woods with out my pistol i expect its not going to be very comfortable in a saddle. So tell me what y'all do.
AlienGear chest holster works great.

I carry my S&W 686 in a OWB Paddle holster on my hip and put the saddle on over the top. I figured this arrangement would be uncomfortable and i would have to put the gun away at the tree but i really dont. Gun is still accessible (a little awkward but if i needed it i could get it) and like i said, i really dont think it affects my saddle arrangement in any way. Does anyone else do this or am i crazy?

I also carry a glock and won’t leave home without it. It stays in an inside the waist holster. Once I put my kestrel on I attach the holster to the inner thigh strap of the saddle up high on my hip just above the buckle. Easy to get to and comfortable. Only issue is that it’s no longer concealed but I rarely run into anyone in the woods that I need to hide it from unless I’m hunting urban. Then it just stays inside the waist and is uncomfortable but not so bad to keep me from hunting. If it was I’d just put it in my pack while in the tree. Hope this helps

I carry three different types of guns for CCW.

1. Glock 43
2. Rock Island 45 with a 3.5" barrel
3. NNA. 22 mag https://northamericanarms.com/shop/firearms/naa-22m/

With the 43 I carry in a pocket holster or I use the Kenai chest holster. Either way works perfectly. I did however put this pistol in one of my IWB holster and it HURT with the saddle. Major hip pinch!! Won't do that again.

My rock island .45 I use my Kenai chest holster as well. I've even used my three speed holster for deep concealment. It works as well...just the pistol is not as accessible with my saddle on. https://3speedholster.com/

When I carry my .22 mag it's only because I want to go light. It is accurate to 10 yards...but beyond that I'm not shooting anything unless its an aluminum can that is rolling dangerously towards me. It is my last option gun and if a bad guy/wild dog is on me that gun is in its body somewhere. I put it on a pumpkin and watermelon before and the hole it put in was huge. Plus I see people using the .22 mag to kill gators...course we don't have gators in Illinois.

For anything outdoors, I love a chest rig. Balanced, out of the way, but very accessible. 2A makes a good one and the owner Tom is a good guy to work with.

For the longest, I carried a Ruger GP100 .357 in a leather chest holster made from this guy out in AZ: https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecomme...oncealment-Holster.cfm?item_id=151&parent=669

The link is to the hip holster, and he makes accessory straps to rig it to wear on your chest or belt loops to use it IWB.

Anymore, I get tired of lugging that heavy sucker around and just tote a S&W 9mm that I wear on my belt, exposed. In Arkansas, the occasional big cat, black bears, wild dogs, yotes, and the two legged, two toothed variety of critters whose chemistry project you accidentally stumbled upon are about all you could expect to run across. Being new to saddle hunting, though, I can see how this isn't going to work as well. Looking for alternatives.

Is there a website?

I had a S&W 45 acp variant that was a new model (there are like 60 different M and Ps) and no one else had the form to mold kydex for it except for 2A holster. They had tons of options also. I probably emailed back and forth with the owner 5 times. Holster showed up in a few weeks and was a perfect fit with great, adjustable retention that can be dialed to nearly impossible to pull down to will fall out when tipped over (and everywhere in between).

I'll probably get an outside the waist model from him in a few months.

A Drop Leg Holster Looks Like It Would Work Well. They Are Handy And Fast. We Don't Have to Worry About the Toothed Critters Here. I Carry Appendix and its Out of The Way of The Saddle But Don't Generally Carry it in The Woods.
