What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

I’ve been working out, walking, and trying to manage my weight. I got tired of not being able to walk without getting winded and climbing trees without exhaustion. So far I’ve lost 40 lbs and six pant sizes. I’m actually excited about getting back in the saddle this fall. Everything should be easier than last season.
Woohoo!! Way to go brother! Yes, everything is easier as you already know! I lost another 15# and have been doing a few push-ups each morning…..I hate planks, but do that too. I’m still older and tired, but at +/-190#, I have spring in my step and am walking further and faster when I’m in the woods!
Speaking of which, I went for a boat ride to a WMA then a nice long walkabout. Checked cards and pulled a camera. I should have pulled both as I’m getting a ton of wind pics.

Great job. It amazes me how many ppl in this country are carrying 40+ extra lbs. especially after this last 2.5 year education course/reality check/wake up call. Its almost getting hard to look past it when I meet new ppl now with all they put us through since march of 2020. Keep at it. You are starting to experience life again.

Yep, and the sad thing is I’m a long time healthcare professional that should know better. The last two years for me were an emotional trainwreck and led me to coping by overeating. Now I’ve got to buy all new hunting clothing! Oh well, bummer. Lol

I had a senior chief in the Navy who would ride us for being a few pounds out of spec. Loved that man, learned a ton from him, awesome leader, but he was a real pr**k when it came to weight. He was naturally thin because of his genetics and expected everyone else to be the same. I reported to him, and the rest of the 12-man division reported to me. One day he was riding us about our PT scores, really laying the shame on. Finally I had enough, and in a friendly way, because we were friends, I told him: Look, senior. You eat worse than us, drink more than us, smoke more than us, and spend way less time in the gym than us. You're just blessed with those good genes. So back the **** off

Your post reminded me of that from 20 years ago. :)

Put up a shooting house so my boy and I can whack some does with the rifle(no, not saddle hunting, but even cooler).

Scouted trees to hang in.

Put up a ladder stand for our “old guy” on the lease.

Put out some mineral.

And last night, I got new strings on my buddy’s bow and got a pre-lim tube done on it. Been a busy weekend.

Tell me again how thermacells don't work....:D
No doubt! You would be so weak from blood loss you would not be coherent enough to post, lol. Man, I'm jealous! I don't have a place to hog hunt anymore. Hunting hogs in July and August in the South will really make you appreciate the cooler temperatures in the mid 80's in early bow deer season.

Finaly organized my garage into kind of sections.
hunting, yard, tools, etc.
i like everything in its place.
when you use it put it back where it was and you will never have to look for it again.
this helps me get ready and organized fir the up coming season

Used some tubular webbing and bungee cord to mod my versa aider for use with my skeletor sticks.

Reorganized a lot of my hunting stuff! Looks like I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff. Including a AeroHunter Flex saddle (used 1 season), extra sticks, Turkey decoys, backpacks, etc.

Scouted and set my cameras. I scouted last weekend in a wma the next county north and found zero buck sight/activity. I scouted the weekend before that in a county west/northwest and see zero buck sign/activity. Today I was a county to the south and the bucks are starting to do buck stuff. Fresh rubs and active scrapes. One of my new SH buddies went with me and I got to show some cool stuff. We seen a handful of hogs and busted out a deer or 2. He's got 2 ebikes and I have to say they are probably the best scouting tool ever. Maybe 1 day if I'm a really good boy I'll get 1....I let those cameras soak a little and go see who's where and make a gameplay for early Oct archery quota....
