What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Ok so I bought a drey LL, a ROS from hunt30, and I’m retiring my ancient Guidos Web, and added a tethered daisy chain for hanging stuff.

wow, the drey is going to be like a hunting crib…that’s what I’ll call it, the Crib. Man that thing is simple, light, and very adjustable. The ROS is a minimalistic approach, I always have a hand climber seat to try If I want to. Dropping lots of weight. Good deal for the long haul or all day sits.

i‘be been using the Stryker xl and now it’ll be empty… lol

out with the old…

Received my XOP saddle/platform combo. I've got nothing to compare it to (firsthand) but my preliminary thought is that I'll enjoy hunting out of this.

Saturday I snowshoed back in on a piece of public land to a primary scrape I found during the late season and hung a camera up over it. The dog was mad at me for making it trudge through the 2ft. of snow we have. While I was up on my stick situating the camera over the scrape, a red fox bounded by only 12 yards or so away. My dog started to chase after it and then just stopped the snow was so deep. I'm going to go back to that spot and hang a piece of grape vine. There is a couple of licking branches over the scrape but they're almost broke off. Sunday I took the .22 and snowshoed in and scouted the ridge on the other side of the road I put my camera up on that scrape. some other guy did the same thing on a scrape over on that side. Didn't find any sheds. Coyotes opened up at last light and I usually carry a diaphram turkey call and so I let a couple of pup wimpers out and immediately saw movement. They wouldn't close the distance but one went into an open lane and I shot but and it dissapeared. A minute or two later I saw it walking back up the roadway way out of range. If I would have had my light I would have tried to call it again. So more scouting and shed hunting and camera hanging.

I packed up my pile of saddle stuff, including my saddle. I put everything in a tote so I could get ready for Turkey season. I had to clear a septic line clog and cleaned up a bunch on my way to the corner of the basement where the cap was…..thank goodness it went quick and easy and I didn’t have to pull the lid!
Then I finished making my throw line set up. I made due with what I had and saved myself a solid $50+ I only shot it twice, but it will surely work like a charm! Bout to order that spool of paracord!

Just got a Samick Sage in yesterday so today I had to drop an order for accessories to get me shooting, not sure if hunt trad this year but looking forward to shooting it.

Did some more 2TC today. Really liking this way of climbing actually. I didn't have to buy anything to try it either which was nice. Going to keep at it a couple times a week till I get really proficient at it. If I decide to keep it as my main climbing system then I can drop 4 lbs from my current WE Stepp and aider way of climbing.

I've been looking for a lightweight system for early season here in Michigan. Found out I already have it. Sewed two straps on my waste pack for a way to attach EDP platform. So far so good. View attachment 62027
I like that idea. I use the Monster pack from Badlands and I am yet to find a way that I REALLY like carrying it with that pack. Love the EDP though.

Too windy for me today to keep practicing the 2TC method. Decided to make some blood trail markers and making a few more turkey calls1.jpg2.png.jpg

Got some new toys yesterday. I also touched up the throw spoon set up and cut the rod down to the first eye. The vet tape created a nice hole to drop the spoon down in for transport. I also did my first SRT climb…..not ready yet! Watching more videos this am. Here is the ready to go throw spoon setup. And my new toys ….really glad I bought the 700 instead of 550.

We had a storm here last night and today. Now it's over, but i'm frustrated because it will rain the whole sunday. In other words, it's a bullshit weekend.
I was out today nevertheless to make a paracord preset. The storm blows my ropes and cords away and the throw ball too. The tree swayed back and forth. I fought with the elements and the branches. Now my body aches but i'm happy. Much more fun than sitting on the couch. :)

I tried 2TC again. It was easier this time, and I rappelled down. I wanted to give it a fair shot and I may be able to make it work with some further refinements. It's always nice to have one more way up the tree in your toolbelt.

I feel that! I tried my second SRT this am and the ropeman will NOT be a part of it! I tied the JRB ascender hitch but only a 423 so it wouldn’t bite after it was raised. I was also using old cheap Amazon rope and noticed some hard spots and put it away to never use again! It has some obvious problems I could feel with my fingers.

I then rode my bike to some Corp property that’s basically behind my house! I’ve known it’s there, but never been there. After breaking the ice and cutting between 2 houses to get there, it is on! Now I have a whole new area to scout! When I got back I did 15 push ups and shot my bow. Gotta work in a bit so I’m chilling now. I’ve been trying to get in better shape since I’m getting old as dirt!
