What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

I hiked and scouted around 4 miles today, moved one of my cameras and then had a fawn on it minutes after I left, found a few recently used beds and other sign, bumped a lot of does throughout the day as well. I found two there people's cameras, didn't touch them but held my number up in front, we shall see if the photos worked and if anyone calls/texts. all in all a pretty good day.

I called USPS and gave a verbal thrashing to them for not delivering the pack I bought and was shipped on 8/6. It has been at the distribution center here in town since 2:40 am on 8/16 and it's still sitting there. Never mind that it sat in the distribution center where it shipped from for 8 days. Asked if I could come pick it up and the guy acted like I was asking permission to enter a nuclear facility. Then he started in with the excuses about delays, that's when thrashing commenced. So much for priority shipping.
Sounds like they lost it to me….

Worked on developing a cinching safety strap using an A.R.T. snake anchor and a Kong Frog. This will also doubles as my tree tether for use with my Drey. I use a variation of 1 sticking with a platform that requires no descending to retrieve platform going up- I have Amsteel lines to both platform and strap that goes around tree. I used a Amsteel daisy chain with a Kong snap shackle( of course not advising this) which allows me to keep ascending and then pull everything up and reset. This is using my Chippewa Wedge Loc Falcon.

Scouted, moved a camera, filled corn feeder, cut in a path for the 4 wheeler, and made this mock scrape with licking branch…
Climbed a tree with my saddle, and rappelled feom hunting height for the first time! And with my fig 8.

A good learning day!

Nock tuned a couple arrows. Did some scouting. I got a Barron Ridge Assent 2 last year. I've got to do some climbing with it.

So your wife makes you hang them up in the garage too? I haven’t killed and wallhangers but mine is already trying to tell me I can’t put them in the living room or bedroom because she doesn’t want to look at dead animals eveeyday.

@gcr0003 - Gotta outmaneuver her! She’s gone out to the deer woods on hunts with you … now she’s getting into archery … gotta get her to start hunting so you can help her take her first respectable buck. Have a nice shoulder mount done … then see if she won’t let it be displayed in the house. And once there’s a precedent…

Decided that I'm gonna finally get a smoker. It is relevant to this thread as I'll now be able to make summer sausage, smoke (as opposed to bake) snack sticks and generally have more options with venison.
Just told my wife last night it's one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life after I just turned 4 deer roasts into pastrami. You won't regret it.

Well I got a delivery notification email Saturday morning just a bit after 10 but no pack. Was told by the mail delivery lady that a supervisor could track the location where the package was scanned delivered but when I got to the post office saturday, the supervisor was already gone for the day. Imagine that. Going back at lunch today. I am going to look around and see if I can find a longer fuse to take with me but I am guessing the short one will get the game time start.

Did some throwball practice in some pretty branchy trees. One took about 5 or so tries, but the second tree I got it on the first throw. Practiced climbing and rappelling out of said trees, one of which leaned pretty good and taught me that gravity is totally in control. Definitely helped me figure out which trees to avoid when I'm out in the woods.

Went out to show the tree I gave up on the other night who's boss. Armed with the rest of my sticks and a brand new aider this time! Went 2 sticks up decided It wasn't a good tree lol.

Moved over about 10 yards for a better window. Climbed that tree to preset that spot. So got to height and started spacing out wondering what I'm doing skipping dinner to put a tiny little rope in a tree while being eaten alive.... Then a doe came in! First in the 20yd window, looped around to 15 and hung out a bit! No telling if I could have drawn without getting busted but there were shot opportunities! Ended up getting winded, i think.

Tuned out pretty good!!
