What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

I'm going to have to go pick some milkweed this week. We have a pretty good patch that grows along the fence line here at work and some of the pods must already be open because I'm watching milkweed seeds drift past my office window as I'm typing this.
That's a sign of the changing season from summer to hunting season. The kid in me gets excited at small hints like that. The first leaf change I see is another one

Man I wish we had them around here.

Yeah, I can't stand ticks. I was out summer scouting last year and walked through some shoulder high weeds. I got through and looked down at my left arm and there was this odd 2 inch or so black dot on my arm. The dot was writhing. It took me a few seconds to realize it was thousands of tiny ticks all in one spot. I just about had a heart attack, lol. I had to take a pocket knife out and peel them off they we holding on to me so hard. I could not just brush them off. It still gives me the creeps thinking about it.

I've been getting some decent pictures, had a tree picked out when I set the camera up so I thought I'd preset it today, maybe move the camera a bit.

Had to change trees, group of wrong way leaners that I had thought would be good. Tried the moster oak next to them... If i get in that window I'm golden! No such luck. I thought I'd no stick up... Ha! Strap barely reached around the tree. Limbs were much worse than I anticipated. I got about 2/3 of the way and had to give up. I'll be back though!

Nearby i got this guy. Only the one time but I'm motivated

Shot my bow some more. Ordered a Versa Aider from Backwoods. Looks like a slick option to gain height with less sticks without too much acrobatics.

I called USPS and gave a verbal thrashing to them for not delivering the pack I bought and was shipped on 8/6. It has been at the distribution center here in town since 2:40 am on 8/16 and it's still sitting there. Never mind that it sat in the distribution center where it shipped from for 8 days. Asked if I could come pick it up and the guy acted like I was asking permission to enter a nuclear facility. Then he started in with the excuses about delays, that's when thrashing commenced. So much for priority shipping.

Got a pack and getting it set up. I’m sure it’s worth an upgrade down the road but it’s a good starter for me hopefully. Should be able to get me to a tree anyway!

Actively trying to figure out ways to mend my fractured ribs before opener. While I can still hunt this way (did so for a part of last year), I’d rather not repeat that process.

I hope you get to feeling better I’m sure that is very uncomfortable

I practiced a little low level rappelling trying to knock the rust off since my leg thing and shot 5 arrows at random distances from 30-15. Oh and went ahead and packed my pack for our archery opener camp

Nah. They only hurt when I:
- reach up
- reach down
- take a deep breath
- clear my throat
- COUGH!!!
- sit up
- lay down

For reasons, it’s not uncommon for me to fracture a rib at least once a year. Most often, it’s an annoying soreness. This time though, I decided to to it right and do the full fx.
