those look pretty good, seems like they stay open when hanging and not gonna get all twisted. step to step distance?

how did you splice in the middle step?

It's just a locked brummel splice. Feed the step material through the ends that attach to the step and then bury it into itself. @g2outdoors , Jerry Grose (I forget his SN here) and some others have good how-to videos on YouTube.

So far they haven't twisted or moved on me. I was going to try them out this past weekend, but ended up using my sticks. Step to step is a hair over 21".

I climbed a tree one stick and set up my LW.
Everything is as last practiced.
Went home and pulled out my #60 Evoke 35.
I was able to pull it once. Thats all I need.
My recent tricep surgery is the least of my worries should I experience equipment failure.

I work on my methods and have confidence in myself. My gear is in great shape as well.

I'm hitting the bush tomorrow

I read a while back a guy posted he went out one stick and struggled.
Confided that he hadn't practiced at all and then said he was not sure it was for him.

For me, when I work on a method it's down to what direction I wind my line..
You should be able to do it in the dark, really.
Lol!

Helped out a friend who had a buck in her pecan orchard that had been hit by a vehicle. Nice little 8 point, hit in the hips and dragging. She didn't want him to suffer. So I tagged him as one of my bucks for the year. Thankful for the meat, but not the way it happened.

That was nice to do.
In Wisconsin we only get the one buck tag archery.

A mercy killing in the woods I would do but I'm pretty sure here we'd just call the authorities and get a tag for the meat on vehicular accident.

Its a shame when the meat goes to waste.

Finally got to tag a doe with my 11 year old with me yesterday evening. We tried to let him get a shot but she just wouldn't come close enough for him to get a good shot with no scope. I tried to let him shoot my 270 but he wasn't sure about shooting that yet. He asked me to take the shot. She's a young one but she'll eat good. He was fired up!

Well, more of a “this week” thing, but I finished up a furniture grade crate for the dog. The front door opens up and slides under the top like a garage door.

That's definitely the nicest looking dog crate I've seen! Nice work!

I need some for my kids...how much?

Haha, with wood prices like they are I’ve got somewhere between $350 and $400 into it.
Believe it or not, it is made out of 2X4 studs off the Lowe’s shelf! Took lots of passes on a joiner planed to get them nice enough to use!

I hear u on the price of wood.... Around here 3/4 plywood is damn near $50 a sheet...
I make a lot of stuff out of reclaim pallets. Some of them are made of nice oak hardwood... Here a table in the living room. I still gathering more material to build a dinner table to match

So today I have made up my mind.

I hunted with my first hunting saddle last season and really got sold on the idea.
I cut trees but somehow never had the thought of hunting like that, late to the party.

So then along comes Nutterbuster with a post about a work positioning type belt as an inexpensive substitute for a treesaddle.
Off I went and ordered his recommendation and a bigger beefier one as well.
I had a shortened season due to an injury but was able to switch back and forth several times.
The saddle is lighter and easier to stow but I am that guy, I prefer my belt all the way.
I added a rump strap to my belt made from a sling. A piece of seat belt type material would work fine. No other mods.
I think my belt costs $38.

Then there is the LW ambush platform.
I find it to be rough on the bare hands and occasionally it will shift and also has some minor flex. It seems like sooner or later one of my toes is logged against the post and also it seems to be in the way when I rotate my feet sometimes.

I cut down a LW Alpha stand and made a folding leg stand out of it.
The stand has NO flex, never shifts, is very roomy and has no post between your feet.
It is heavier than ambush but not a deal breaker.
And while we talk heavier, I'll put anyone on my stand. The ambush is a big man's gamble. It will do the job but again, be familiar if your a big guy..
Just my own opinion.

So there you have it. Thank you NB and all the guys that delved into diy stands.
I definitely love my gear.Screenshot_20201127-201415_Gallery.jpg
