What did you do today?

Sat in an LZ for a good while, waiting on an ambulance to show up with a patient. Pilot had to burn some fuel to offset patient weight.

Took 2 hours walking 400 yards through a rivers edge. Deer were already in the field at 1pm. Never made it to my desired spot. Halfway I ditched my JX3 and loaded my pockets with the bare necessities. Watched the field with 30+ deer and 1 huge 8pt for 3 hours. None of them came within bow range. Was my last chance in MO to not eat some out of state tags!

Rumors have spread about a ‘world class’ whitetail near a nearby freeway exit. I realized my aunt has property 300 yards away - also realize I should have been tractoring her a garden for the past two decades because it’s good remote woods back behind her place. Anywhoo I got permission from her today to put a few cameras back there. The game never ends.
Edit: “plowing her garden” seemed like an awkward phrase.

That is so awesome! Congrats friend. She's beautiful. Enjoy because she will be graduating high school in the blink of an eye. God is great!

Today I am taking a new "saddle" to the field. It may replace my Welkforder belt but that's not because I don't love it.
When I was looking at belts last year the Notch Sentry floating D arborist saddle caught my eye and I considered buying one at $150. I went with my Welkforder with no regrets.

I placed an order with Sherrill for new bull ropes, climbline and other hardware
A few weeks ago and while surfing the site I found the Sentry on clearance for $49 in sizes 1 and 2.
I had to buy one.
The video review on Treestuff clearly shows the flaw of this saddle. It sits you into the batten and puts some force on your leg/butt area.

My fix is to add a secondary bridge to redistribute support into the back pad.
I have tried it out at home and made my mod to it. I may lose the leg straps or maybe not. Up to the individual.

I am pleasantly surprised and fully expect this to be in the rotation or my primary rig. It is very light as arborist saddles are being made lighter than the old school rigs these days.

I know someone out there is looking for an inexpensive way to get into this style of hunting.

The last thumbnail shows my Welkforder, Sentry and Trophyline from right to left.
I enjoyed the Trophyline but prefer my belts. I have no plans to try another saddle and am glad I got tired of waiting for my Kestrel.
Time to hit the road.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
