What did you do today?

I've had that happen a few times, the last being my debit card and they drained my checking account. Surest and quickest way to ruin your day.

day 2 of spending multiple hours at home depot with customer service getting an online order screwup resolved. i ended up walking aroudn the store and picking everything up myself, lesson learned, will only order bigger items online, these large orders of multiple small things... (plumbing pits etc) will always be in person. at least i have everything and can get started on the stuff i was planning on doing last night, tomorrow.

ugh @GCTerpfan that stinks, my wifes identity got stolen a few years ago and it's caused lots of headaches down the road as well, needing a special pin number to file taxes etc. sorry that some jerk got you too.

My son who is 6 was home from school today, my father has some private land with big tree forts I call them, like you see on tv hunts, anyways I only hunt there like once or twice a season, it’s an easy place for my dad to hunt some so I leave it alone, I asked my son if he wanted to go on his first real deer hunt today, he started running around the house putting camo on, it was an obvious yes. I explained it mite get boring sitting still like that, he told me no problem I said we will see about that. I filled my pack with snacks and some Capri Sun and away we went. About 15 minutes in I told him we had a better chance of seeing deer if he kept his arms and head inside the shooting windows LOL it was a real circus, wrappers from snacks making noise and dinosaur toys hitting the floor but he was having a blast so it was great, about 20 minutes go by and I tell him don’t move I see a deer, a lone doe walks out from an apple tree and locks onto us in that tree fort, he said shoot it daddy, finally after about the 3rd time telling me that I told him we were after horns, I already shot a meat deer with the bow, he was not impressed... Well that doe was on a mission to see what the ruckus was in that tree house, coming closer, and after repeated daddy shoot that deer I had enough, I told him to put his ear muffs on and he did in about half a second, I grabbed my smoke pole and took a rest, this time my son, speaking way louder because now he has ear muffs on LOL asks me again why I’m not shooting, I turned and looked and said are you ready, make sure and watch, he gave me a thumbs up and I sent one, she took off wide open, tail down, I knew she was hammered but I told him lets wait a few before we get down, after a lot of questions and fist bumps he told me I smoked her LOL. It was an easy 80 yard track job and she was piled up, he asked again why I waited so long to shoot, I told him because I really wanted to wait for a buck, he explained to me, my 6 year old mind you, that this wasn’t about horns today we were just supposed to have fun, and yes I agree he was right, hard to imagine sometimes it takes a 6 year old to put things in perspective during the grind of deer season, but hey he was right and shooting that doe tonight with my son was more fun than most of those racks hanging on my wall, today ended up being a great day!!
That's awesome @Topdog . Hopefully it got him hooked for life. You just started my day with a big smile.

Spent the evening on the phone with my credit card company explaining to them that I was NOT the person that called in a few days ago with my birth date and CC security code and asked to refund last months $2300 cc payment to a different checking account then made the initial payment. :rage:

I had my identity stolen a few years ago. Someone opened up a bank account in my name and transferred a few thousand to that account from my credit card and then withdrew the funds. It sucks!

Thankfully it was on credit card and not a debit card. I had to file with the credit agencies. Dispute the charges, Close the account. Ensure all my logon credentials were changed (and all different). Then I got LifeLock. And a credit card that immediately notifies me by text and iPhone notification immediately of any transactions (in or out).

I also called my 401K and pension administrators and told them not to allow any withdrawals/transfers unless it was me IN PERSON making the withdrawal.

And I am paying LifeLock monthly subscription fees to monitor!

Stay on top of this for your own financial sake.

Please see my response to GCTerpfan

And if it is still happening, I’d be very concerned.

Also, I only use my ATM/Debit cards at an ATM (only after ensuring there was no rogue card readers attached to them).

Credit card for everything else. I’d rather fight the credit card company to not pay a fraudulent charge than beg the bank to replace my money.

That's all good advice. I had someone apply for unemployment insurance in my name last year so my credit is already frozen. That card has already been cancelled and account credentials changed. We pay most of our monthly expenses with a CC. Like you said, it's a lot easier to deal with a situation like this with a CC then with a bank plus, we rack up the reward points.

Since we are on identity theft, watch yourselves at gas stations. I had my card skimmed at a pump last year. I was told it increases this time of year (Holidays). Only use a CC to buy gas. Check card reader to make sure it is original to pump. Use tap and go if your card has it (at least until they figure out how to scam those). Also, roll your windows up, lock doors, and never leave keys in vehicle. They will steal from your vehicle while you are looking at pump with a get a way driver near by or just take your ride (see Atlanta).

I've been at a Mitsubishi conference in Indy the last 3 days so it is a welcome sight to see my bow and arrow again! Will try and get some hunts in the last 3 days of our in-line season. Moving towards a full moon so we'll see what happens. Last week of October moving into early stages of November look to be really good.

Spent the day getting some new setups for my boys. Both joined the S3DA (scholastic 3-d archery) team here a little bit ago. Looking forward to seeing them shoot their new rigs.

Not today but didn’t have signal to post Saturday. Both of my kids 17yr old daughter & 20yr old son haven’t hunted a lot in the last 3-4 years (school/sports). Friday night I was getting my stuff set for a morning ML hunt, my youngest asks if she can go….. So buy a license & get her packed! We head out in the morning plenty early & tuck into a deadfall (she’s afraid of the climbing part…..) had 2 nice does come by at 830 & she makes a great shot @ 125yds. She was super excited we gave it about 45 mins she had good blood all the way to her prize.
Not to be outdone I’m getting reset for afternoon afternoon hunt & my son (home from college on break wakes up & checks his phone sees little sis shot a doe) not to be outdone he comes down & asks if he can go with me in the evening. Same drill, license , clothes , snacks…… we get setup tucked into a hedgerow & have deer on us within 10 mins of getting setup. All afternoon he’s asking if he should shoot…… my response is go ahead but if you shoot the first deer on the field you’ll never see the big one. I was hoping that 1 of 2 nice 8pts would show. & trail cam photos a ridge over the afternoon before bought him some patience. Well nothing else really showed except a small doe at last legal light. He made an excellent shot & 40yds later he was already talking about inviting his GF down for dinner next weekend for backstraps. All in all an excellent weekend to be a Dad!!!75EA3EB1-2D3D-4192-9249-831886674631.jpegD3EB4351-769C-4C67-B4CD-2761D2FC33AF.jpegD1F8E6C9-C996-4157-A695-4C27AB348FED.jpeg607993D1-4AA6-4AA8-96FE-6541954A2EB3.jpeg

Very nice! Lots of good eatin there.

I caught this cow and calf moose bedded down in an old beaver pond today, I watched them for probably 10 minutes before I snuck in closer for better pictures, this picture is a screen shot of a video I took with my phone, moose are becoming more common in the Adks although it’s not a given that I will see one every season or anything.66CBECE0-24A3-4EAE-B1CE-E2E329BBD35A.jpeg

I took my enclosed trailer camper to central WI. for a five day hunt.
A friend has a wooded forty in a wooded section surrounded by agriculture and wood lots.
He just asked me not to shoot a doe as they get heavy hunting pressure. Lots of deer drives in corn country.
My hunt was enjoyable spending hours in the saddle.
I saw deer the first day but no shots were possible due to brush. On day two
I pushed west after my morning sit and foud a large pine with a small clearing that had 6 or 7 oaks and a few trails leading in.
I had to trim very little to get up the tree but still, sound from the saw..
I got set up about 25 feet high and had a good view to my left.
It was cloudy with rain forecasted and I knew I might be going home sooner than planned.
Light drizzle came and went in the first half hour and I knew hard rain was coming.
I heard something behind me, maybe a black squirrel, maybe a big fat spike.
Oh yeah, his fatness, the spike!
He started into the clearing and was not stopping, just casually going elsewhere.
I changed his travel plans. I went to gut him and was surprised at the size of his bag. Like a large orange, the thick skinned ones.
He will be good eating.
It was a long drag out and I had to go slow. I had umbilical surgery 5 weeks ago and was wearing an elastic wrap the whole time. My legs ached but not my belly.
I am going back to work on Monday so this was my season for the most part.
I may get to hunt late December.
When I phoned in my boss offered me work through the holiday into mid December. I took it. Make up all that money I spent eating out on my time off.
This morning I have to get busy skining.
Thank God for a good(short/rain)trip and a fat spike.
Its still raining..Screenshot_20211030-082542_Gallery.jpg
