What did you do today?

Broke my truck while 2 hrs from home towing a trailer. Had to abandon the truck at a Firestone and rent a home depot truck for the day to get my trailer and my self back home. Today sucked. Gotta drive back to the home depot in the morning to turn the rental truck back in and find out the prognosis on my truck across the street at firestone.

You'll get to spend the night in your own bed tonight and grab some known good coffee in the morning though so that's a plus! Bless you buddy. And may you truck be an easy fix!

Yeah. Glad the home depot had a truck available and that I am lucky enough to be able to spend the money rather than be sleeping in my cargo trailer in a Firestone parking lot hoping not to get bothered by the police.

Got our CGM Breast cancer Awareness saddle ready to ship out for auction. Very proud of this one.

What was it???
They replaced the water pump and thermostat. I would have done it myself if it had happened at home. Started overheating again about an hour into my drive home. Added coolant and made it about 10 miles before it started overheating yet again. Pulled over again and there was smoke and the whole passenger side of my engine bay had some kind of fluid sprayed on it. Probably a head gasket?

What kind of fluid? So ur coolant level was topped off when they did the water pump and u still had low fluid after u stopped for overheating?
Coolant went somewhere....u may want to drain the oil and make sure there no water in there

I had it towed to another Firestone and I am gonna see what they say tomorrow. I didn't diagnose the problem, they did. They sent me on my way with a very not fixed truck.

I'm not sure what kind of fluid, it was smoking and smelled like oil but it could well have been a mix. The Firestone people said it was probably an "air bubble" in the coolant settling out which sounded like BS to me.

Edit: the air bubble was their explanation for the low level.

That air bubble is a thing, and in little cars and stuff with cooling systems with only small amount of total coolant in the system it can be bad fast but a system like ur with multiple gallons of fluid Id skeptical....I hope for u it wasn't oil in the engine bay.

I added a gallon and half of coolant to take up the "air bubble" seems like a hell of a bubble. I'm pretty sure it was at least part oil, based on the smell. Ugh.

Sorry to hear about the truck! Clothes washers suck as well, just replaced ours that was only 5 years old but of course not in warranty any more. Had to install myself because dryer was stacked, even though store told me no big deal, still fine to deliver/install.

Appliances these days are built like crap until you spend serious dough.

I've been told to buy the cheap analog control ones or spend the money on the expensive analog control ones. Everything in-between is handicapped by a board that costs more to replace than a new machine does

Yeah, we were planning on staying here 3-4 years... 5 years ago, so didn't buy a great one. Replaced with the same, hopefully we are out before it goes again!
