What did you do today?

They replaced the water pump and thermostat. I would have done it myself if it had happened at home. Started overheating again about an hour into my drive home. Added coolant and made it about 10 miles before it started overheating yet again. Pulled over again and there was smoke and the whole passenger side of my engine bay had some kind of fluid sprayed on it. Probably a head gasket?

I hope you get it fixed back up. It’s a beautiful truck. If you decide to sell instead of fix give me a holler. I may be interested

I'm preparing to go into the trenches with corporate to get this problem repaired cheaply or free. I took it to then and paid 720 dollars to get my coolant system fixed. 45 minutes after leaving their facility it was overheating and down a gallon and a half of coolant. I added coolant per their instructions and continued per their instructions and ended up with some kind of major problem. For less than 720 dollars I could have bought the parts and rented a car hauler to get the truck back to my house or my home mechanic.

Good luck with that Spuds, hopefully they are easy to work with on this. If not you may mention the saddlehunter.com effect

They claim its fixed and I don't owe. Gonna pick it up tomorrow.

For those of you who know ford trucks. They claim the leak after the repair was because one of the bolt holes that held the water pump to the block was wallowed out. Whether that was from them or pre-existing they didn't make a claim.

So....I think I remember u saying 302?
If I remember correctly there is a combination of studs and bolts...and I think i remember the water pump bolting to the timing cover....if there is something "wallowed" out could require helicoil or maybe block work. I'm betting it's something easy that they just messed up but u will never know cause they won't say they messed up

Here is 351w for reference....302-351 pretty much the same

I hate all of you southern guys and your rust free trucks.....

Yeah its a 302. I'll ask them for specifics on the repair tomorrow when I pick it up.

And yeah, big difference between a 25 year old truck from SC and SD

Ugggh, I kinda improvised restringing a bow that had a string slip off the cam in the field once & it was trickier than what you have there. Did you try it??
Shop is normally closed and they just happened to be in for a couple of hours today and fixed it up. I'll have to buy a new bow as a thank you in a couple of months :p

Don't think I'll be going to the same spot for this afternoon though, not sure which spot I'll go to.

Got my truck back, seems ok! The problem they had to fix the second time was a "rusted pipe plug" and they used thread saver glue of some kind to fix it. Didn't have any heat issues on the drive back. Gonna give it a once over when I have a minute to spare. But for now, I'm hunting.

Edit: and there was no additional charge.

Got my final load of wood in for the season (actually this was the day before today). I bucked these logs up back in August after a buddy had some stuff taken down in the woods next to his house. I could literally walk to the spot and saw it up. Split it all up the last couple of days when I could get to it. The pile in the driveway took 2.5 loads of this wagon to build it. IMG-5817.jpg
