What did you do today?

Spent the last 3 days building a plyometrics box and a Murphy bed for the wife...
Trying to build brownie points for deer season.

I have to admit.... the Murphy bed dang near killed me trying to do it all myself. The thing weighs right at 300lbs, and I was man-handling it all myself while trying to finesse all the joints alone. I’ve never been so sore in my life.

At this point I’m looking forward to the 10 hours of chainsaw work I’m doing on Saturday... it will be a break!

Nice job looks good.

I been working (thank God)all week but my wife says I can redo the bathroom floor this weekend since I took an unauthorized (from her)leave of absence to go turkey hunting last weekend.
You fellas don't know how lucky I am to have a planner at home.
All I have to think about is my bows.. while I busy carrying out said plans.

Im trying not to go insane. I havent gone out for a week now. I miss a lot of things like BBQ with friends and especially my metal detecting hobby. I had a lot of fun looking for buried treasures. I may not have found anything interesting all the time but the thrill was still enjoyable. Id recommend the hobby to anyone looking for something to do after the pandemic. Id also suggest visiting this website for more information about metal detecting.

I got my wife 1. I haven't messed with it yet

Spent all day on the phone and computer canceling our July trip to Alaska because of all the closures due to this stinking virus.

I found a penny made from 1795 to 1803 across from my house with a MD. Date was not readable but the type of coin was. It could have been a half penny, I don't remember exactly. It was worth about $3. I don't remember where I put it.

Yesterday I was able to harvest one of those government thunder birds! Got in on a supplemental drawing to fill vacant spots at an FWA in northern Indiana!

I got sucked into the 15% off on shikars. Ugh. My wife is gonna keeeel me! Now I gotta sell my cut down LW sticks with one step aiders.

Spent yesterday pulling off what was left of the roof on my grandmother’s barn. The place was hit by a tornado two weeks ago, and it almost took the whole thing.

After we got the roof to a decent place, we hit a couple of the ponds. Ended up hitting blackjack! 21 keepers.

I am working on the honey do list like it is going out of style. I finished some rails on fencing we put up,then finished the last raised bed in the greenhouse, then worked on a garden bed i am building on our pond bank. I had someone drill holes for some locust posts, then i layed locust post horizontal between them to make a retaining wall. Today i backfilled behind the horizontal logs with gravel divided by weedbarrier on plywood from the soil. I will take some pics tomorrow. It was cold today in central NY,and right now it is snowing again, what a "spring".

Man , I have to pull out the kayak!

Spent the last 2 days reinforcing the old barn and installing 2X6 purlin to get ready for tin.

There was a support pole removed in the 90’s when my great grandfather switched from square bales to round, and all the damage caused that area to sag heavily. So, we built a 20 foot beam and re-leveled / reinforced that area.

A lot of the rafters were rotten after previous storm damage allowing water intrusion, so they got new 2X6 reinforcement and new cripples where necessary. It was much slower than building from scratch... but totally worth it. Lots of the structure of this has been Osage orange, which is just in unbelievable to me. You almost can’t get a mill to work with it these days because of how hard it is.

And the pic below was my view for the last two days... the two of us manhandled 16 foot treated 2X6’s up on this roof while standing on rafters and purlins. Talk about vertigo inducing!

Today I figured out I not one of the smart guys at the archery club.
The smart guys say, "I'm a plumber or I'm an electrician" I will fix things at a discounted rate.
They also expect that to count as their work hours.
Me I just ask to be reimbursed for chains and fuel, my work is free.

Thats why I belong to a club, so I can enjoy the facilities and help maintain the place without giving them a "deal".

I was missing one thing in my man-cave. A pole! No, not the stripper kind. The kind to hang from in a saddle. No more getting out of saddle shape during these WI winters and rainy springs. Now I can practice most shot positions from the comfort of the basement year round. Saweeeet!
