What s the name of this climbing method?

Basically one-stick method except you are using the platform with aiders. Work really well depending on your choice of platforms. People have success with it using a Predator, or even a Mission which is 5lbs. But me personally, I like one-sticking with the lightest stick possible and standing on the largest platform as possible so I do not do this.
is it difficult to break the cam of the platform once its cammed?

Absolutely not. You can toe hook it or just pull the top of the post and it would come right off. Some are actually installing cam cleat to their platforms.

Very cool...thank you for this info...I want to install a cam cleat to my predator also...one of the things on my to do list...best wishes!

But just in case it was missed, you are clipping to a step while attaching the next one. Yeah it’s a riskier method than some but with a WE step for a hand hold it’s pretty secure if your agile enough.
Yes I am clipping to the step prior to tying on the next step.

Received my foot loop from CGM. Made the Amsteel section out of 1/4".
Top loop is at 48" second loop at 32".
I will also use this with 2TC this summer.

I'm bothered by girth hitching stuff to my foot and then hanging that on things. I want to be able to easily shake free if something goes sideways.

Has anyone found or can think of a way to use this method without the choke on the foot?

Look at my aider on page 1. It is just a loop. You don't have to slide the castration band down.

With the versa aider, put a carabiner anywhere to make it just a loop of the right size and not girth it to your foot

Since no one has a name for this climbing method. And to be competitive with;
One Stick.
2TC.
SRT.
DRT.
You have to have a name.
I am going to call it, Two Stepping.
I can't believe no one else is doing this?

Does anyone know the name for this climbing method or who invented it?

@flinginairos was the first person I remember doing it.

Thanks. Sounds like Ted Bright was the guy using Cranford steps.
I want to add that when I get on my second step I attach my Tether and use it and my linesman rope.

Nothing can compete with 2tc.its hands down the lightest.every thing else competes for second
I agree with you. 2TC is the lightest by far if you dont rappel down. But since we climb different types of trees in different situations options are good. Also how high you like to hunt has a lot to do with your favorite climbing method. I am a 15 to 20 foot guy so this seems to work well for me. 3 Lbs of climbing gear and I am hunting at 17.5 feet with easy 15" steps.
Also you need to factor in that I am a clumsy ninja!

I have not given up on 2TC. but I am having issues getting it to work for me. Also I dont have a lot of climber friendly trees. I have a Lone Wolf hand climber treestand I got in 2009. I have only used it 3 times, LOL.

I been fallowing your journey and hope you figyer it out.once I got the hang of it.it was over
Can you help a guy out please and If you have time.
Go to a tree with your tether and saddle. Hook up your tether taking all the slack out of it. Attach tether to saddle bridge. While standing mark on the tree where you chin is, sit down in your saddle and measure the drop to your chin. This will tell me if I am doing something wrong.
