What's going on at AeroHunter?

WOAHHHH i missed this thread, im in a panic. My kestrel isnt gonna last forever and i would never want another brand after using them. Aerohunter is the bees knees.

ughhhhh what a bummer to read.

Also......the bidding on my kestrel w/ the beanie and pull string backpack will start at $3,000

So your wife thinks that spending the profits from your company to buy another companies products in an effort to help potential clients buy that product instead of yours is a bad business idea? Who'da thunk it? You can tell who has the business sense in the relationship. :tearsofjoy:
Yes she is definitely the smarter of us two.
I guess it’s more I am pretty passionate about saddle hunting so I always try To point people towards something that might be better suited to their preferences. I just tell her I’m buying the other brands for R&D:sweatsmile:

New Tribe was never seriouse about hunting.ah Was just a side project done in the corner of the building.not 1 ounce of passion for what we do.im sure they knew they where retiring thats why they never advanced into making accessories.before covid.i spoke Briefly with sophie, who is a sweetheart, about doing some work and they where not interested in the hunting community back then.if you plan on retiring than who cares.its FL's Problem now.maybe we should buy it.

No, no, tell her you are buying their inventory so they have nothing left to sell. That way people will have to buy yours. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

I’m a little bummed over this news myself. I feel like the Aerohunter side of their business surpassed the sales of their recreational saddles but they never tried to connect with hunters.
If they were closer I’d be beating on their door asking them to just let me run that side. If I’ve ever came up with an original idea in my life it didn’t stick but I think me and about four people who could sew could make a pretty good living building kestrels, and kites with semi custom options.
When experimenting with climbing I never felt safer than when I was in my kestrel. I never really gave my kite a chance as I got my phantom about the same time and it fit me so well. I think there’s a saddle out there for just about everyone. That perfect balance of fit, comfort, bulk, weight, ease of use etc. I found my favorite saddle elsewhere but the Kestrel checked a lot of boxes for me and became a favorite for others. It definitely took me from someone who toyed with the idea of saddle hunting in a sit drag to someone that used a saddle as their primary way to sit in a tree. Of course this site and our contest had me climbing a tree next to a box blind complete with reclining office chair just so a deer would count in the contest.

I have no idea what their actual business mix was but I find it funny that on hunting forums we think we were just an afterthought and on the Arborist forums they think it was all about AH and didn't care about Arb saddles :D

Too much gear? Y'all are on the wrong forum :tearsofjoy:

Oh no no....don't misread this. They are in the right place. They have simply reached the next level. The have excess, can't stop accumulating gear, AND they can admit they have a problem. I didn't see anything indicating they were going to stop! :tearsofjoy:

Same bro. Same.

I was actually thinking about this today. I don't really know what other brand I would immediately trust at this point. I was going through quite a few websites with the ground use only disclaimers.

Companies still try those ground only disclaimers? I figured by now most have stumbled upon that high dollar liability insurance

Overwatch is built like a tank. Jamie makes a tuff saddle. Yeah. It hasn't been tested by a 3rd party. But what's the test? CGM tested theirs and showed the video. Nothing looks enjoyable about falling 3+ feet in a saddle. Don't want to turn this into another safety conversation. We have plenty.
But if the heavier tuff feel saddle is what makes you more comfortable. Overwatch.
I'm sure if you asked anyone who has/had one about the build quality, I would be shocked to hear anything other than it's built like a tank.

Not going into safety here but some food for thought…. The don’t leave the ground not approved for elevated use, isn’t about the 3rd party test (although that helps inspire confidence in your saddles) it’s about not carrying the extremely expensive liability insurance. Built like a tank or not, if something fails and that company isn’t insured, it’s the end user and their family who loses out. As badly as I hate insurance costs, it’s absolutely necessary to protect myself but also to protect the customer from Murphy’s law.
Side note: I’ve seen some really really good saddle designs that are built extremely well, that would pass drop tests on the full saddle but fail the lineman’s loop drops or the waist belt drop due to lack of stitching in critical areas.
