When an easy job gets hard...

Excellent job well done Ikeman Tx!! The time after a incident is very eye opening and humbling. My hats off to all you medical personnel and first responders also. My wife is a icu trauma nurse and can always tell if she has a bad day when she comes home.. many occasions shes called code blue and it hurts her bad when she loses some one and is glad when shes able to save someone... Its very humbling and gratifying knowing that theres people in all fields and walks of life with the skills you all have.....

Well done Ikeman Tx, thank the Lord you were there and had the training and skills to save that child. Well done!!

Wow Ike. That is incredible! I’m sure the parents of that little girl will be forever grateful, I know I would be! Well done my friend.

IkemanTX, thanks for doing what you did and thanks for sharing that with us. I’m thanking God for using you to save that baby! And I’m praying that God will keep His hand upon you, the baby, and that family. There is no greater thing in life than to be used by God to save someone else.

Wow Ike - God bless you brother - it’s an incredible gift you are sharing with us. Human capacity never ceases to amaze me. You are an awesome man. Sleep well tonight.

My wife is a labor and delivery nurse. I she how things affect her when she comes home from work after losing a patient. When baby's are involved the emotions run extra deep. I'm proud of you Ike. You saved a child's life. That emotion causes panic even in medical professionals when baby's and small children are involved. My wife has seen it on more than one occasion. You keep it together, and because of that a mother does not need to attend a funeral. Cry as much as you need to, but don't forget to smile. You should be proud.

Incredible, you did a wonderful thing. It shows us all that this type of training is important and our attitude to take it serious is essential. You did just as trained without hesitation and the results are life giving. I hope that someday you can meet with them again. That would be heartwarming for sure. Great Job IkemanTX

Thank goodness for people like you! Well done and this is not a memory that you will ever forget. Unfortunately but also fortunately as you can reflect back if it ever happens again. I had a 6th grade have a seizure in my class a few years ago, I thought he was dying bro. Like you I am trained in CPR/ First aid etc and thank goodness I was. Amazing how knowledge kicks in when the pressure is on. But my day was done after that. Emotional mess for days. Great Job Isaac

@IkemanTX great job. Thanks for sharing. It was the brightest part of my day Sunday. My easy job got hard last week also. It ended much darker than yours. Maybe the people will track you down. There can’t be that many flight attendants that sweat Carolina reaper and have a life size @huck72412 portrait tattooed on their back.

Great job! If you continue to struggle, ask your HR if they can send you to a mental health Professional so you’re able to process the event. You probably have an employee assistance program (EAP) too. IMO we could all use a therapist at various times in our lives. We are only human. Don’t be too proud to admit that you need help. That’s a mistake that’s often made.

Well, I don’t whip out the @huck72412 tattoo at work... they have a very strict “no stripping” policy.

Ya, I tried calling our CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) team on Sunday, but wasn’t able to get through to them. Found out yesterday that the building they are in was damaged by the storms that blew through Dallas Sunday evening. They didn’t have power, or working phone lines at the time I was calling...

Getting right back to work at 4:30am yesterday for an 11 hour day got me back in the groove of things. I’m sure it will weigh on me a little from time to time, but it’s amazing what a couple days time, and a good nights sleep will do.

Good job man. You should be proud. I am a firefighter medic. Been doing it 13 years. I do cpr about every 2 to 3 weeks. Baby’s tend to go down due to breathing issues most of the time. Adults are usually cardiac related. Babies and kids is always harder to wrap your head around. Even for someone that does it often. What’s really hard is coming up on one that your training says there gone and you shouldn’t do any rescue efforts at all, Because you know without a doubt there not coming back. Telling the family is hard. Sometimes you do the cpr anyway. But on the same token because of tv it gives the family false hope.

With us after a certain time frame with no response on our equipment we have to make a phone call and stop efforts of rescue. Sometimes the family is thankful for our efforts. Sometimes there mad and angry. We do Adavanced life support so we give them everything they would get in a emergency room.

@IkemanTX great job in saving that bab!! It is always hard when you deal with children in situations like this, especially, if you have children of your own. I'm sure the family is over-joyed that you helped save their infant's life.
As others have said, if it was me and my child I would definitely try reach out to thank you through social media or the media itself.

I'm sure God had you there to help the baby and it's mom. I am glad to hear that you're starting to get back to "normal" and again, great job!!!

If you feel you need to ever talk about something like this, reach out to me. I have 19 years in law enforcement and have quite often dealt with these kind of events.
