When wrapping arrows, does it matter if there is overlap?

To those that cut and wraps their own arrows.

I'm learning how to make arrows and I have a question. I'm cutting my own wraps. Does it matter if there is overlapping once install on the arrows?

Thank you.

Following. The videos I saw for the ends, they just rolled them up. Which is how I did. According to the Bohing web site, the width they give will overlap. I would think the extra weight is not going to change much if everything is tuned like it should.

I generally get a bit of overlap. I haven't noticed a problem, other than I know it is there. One way is to measure and cut them. You can wrap them around while they still have the backing on the adhesive and mark them where to cut or use math. If you know that shaft diameter then you can use the formula Radius = Pi X diameter.

So, if you have a have a .375" diameter shaft then the Radius (width of the wrap to cut) would be 3.14x.375=1.178"

Overlap is a good thing.

yup overlap is totally fine. i guess if you were using a really thick wrap it would matter but that would be a bad idea to use anyway

Overlap never caused any issues that I've noticed. I usually put my first vane right on the overlap also.
