Who carries a pistol whilst in the woods for protection, specifically related to hunting and scouting

I do. It's generally not needed, until it's needed. Got chased up a ridgeline by a yapping coyote once, was glad to have it. No shots fired.

I carry as much as possible. Why? You literally never know what could happen. Mean stray dogs ( more meant to scare em off), crazy people.

Kinda a funny story. I went hunting the other night and forgot my pistol. The day before at work the guys were talking about Jeffery Domer and people like that. So it got in my head while walking out in the dark and had me on edge. Then I walked by a cemetery and I was like man I need my dang gun. After getting home and chilling out I realized like what was I gonna do? Shoot a ghost? Haha

Despite having some of the loosest gun restrictions in the country, it is illegal in my state (VT) during archery and muzzleloader seasons. I would if it were legal.

I will be this year for the first time since it's now legal here.

I'm Canadian so no. I carry bear spray for spring scouting.

If I owned alot if land I would carry a side arm that would be able to kill a bear/cougar/wolf.

From the perp side of things, I think I might rather be shot that pepper sprayed, the crap beat out of me, arrested, and face jail time.

Actually, several years ago it was made legal to carry a handgun during archery, but it can't be used to legally take game.

I carry. Sometimes just cause the jersey bulls don't always like it when you walk through the herd in the dark in full camo. Also ground hunting in ghillie when I could come in close contact with bear..reall would be to just scare them off if i startled them and they were too curious. Most of the time they just take off.....though I generally have a couple granola bars in my pocket...

Spring scouting, either the 44mag or the .357 is always on my side. Lots of bears in my part, and thought black bears don't really bother me, they can be a little skiddish in the spring with cubs around...

And I like to look official when I find someone on my posted property that not supposed to be there.

Meth it's a hell of a drug...

Yes it is and prevalent in many rural areas.

I accidentally put myself between a sow and cubs one year in some crappy weather rushing out of the woods (lost situational awareness, my fault), you just never know.

I have a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 2.0 as my daily, great single stack 9mm with a great trigger and shoots fantastic. Single stack keeps the weight and size down.

Nah, I'm thinking about the occasional crazy people when I'm rolling solo and remote.

I'm generally not worried about animals except homo sapiens...
Yeah ive never experienced anybody other than hunters in the woods. Meth is bad in the woods here but they mostly stay off the reserves especially the fed reserves. And id have to double check for our WMAs but our fed reserves of you were to get caught with a pistol it would be a bad day.
