Who has snorted the Fairy Dust?

One of my archery mentors staggers his fletching. The first fletch goes on at the appointed place, the second goes on 1/8" behind that one, and the third 1/8" behind that. Theory being that this reduces turbulence and produces (marginal) increases in accuracy. I haven't quantified his claims on my own fletching jobs. Anyone hear of this before? Possibly in concert with a turbulator (sp)?

This guy does it to the extreme, not sure what kind of stagger is required to create the tighter spin this guy references

Well fellas off season tinkering has me doing something I never thought I would. I was at 418gr last season. Started tinker up to 484gr and finally landed at 579gr. With a magnus black hornet on the front. 13% FOC and 274 fps. So I guess we could call that snorting fart dust.

I'm jealous of that speed with that arrow. Where'd I put that arm stretcher :tearsofjoy:

I love that 580-600gr area seems to be just about perfect.

A good friend of mine shoots pretty close to that and has excellent arrow flight. I just started adding weight til I was happy and the bow was happy. Landed with 31” 300 spine 5mm FMJ, AAE hybrid 23 four fletch on a 2* right helical ( friend has a old jig that will do that), 75 grain brass insert and 100 gr magnus. Much quieter and hits solid

You must be pulling some weight too. My 570 grain arrows only go 248 fps and I got a 30" DL.
I only shoot 60# though. Not that it really matters, they are fast enough for me.

Nope just 60 but my chrono could be handicapped. My 418 was between 297 and 303. I’m shooting a prime nexus 4. I can run through the one at the bow shop To double check. This bow has always been fast.

I'm shooting a 590 gr. arrow out of a #65 pound Mathews with a 29&1/2" draw and my chrony says 247 average.

Mine could be handicapped then. I’ll run by the bow shop one day and run it through theirs. Archers calculator says I should be around 265 so it may not be off much. I promise this bow is cooking though.

Y’all have me wondering. I went out and shot my 418. I can put 4 arrows 1 at 15, 1 at 20, 1 at 25 and 1 at 30. All will go in a vertical line inside a 3” circle. Shot the 579 in comparison at 25. It’s 3” lower than the 418. So I don’t know. I like it but I would hate to be a fibber so I’ll shoot through the bow shops chrono.

Where’s the 75gr insert from?

Here's one RF would be proud of! Lusk has a review on one, the 250gr I think

Lusk likes to shoot them into concrete blocks and stuff like that lol

I'm going to try the 530 grain one... on my 27.44 long airstrikes. An arrow that weighs 300 gr with no tip , it'd be about 570 gr up front. I should probably buy the SS inserts...

Sooo. I finally got to a chrono. I also enlisted some help. My 414gr arrow is traveling at 281fps. So with archers advantage a buddy did for me. . I also understand/learned how IBO should be calculated against a bow that is not the specs IBO uses. Now with correct calculations. My 469gr at 263fps. My 579gr at 226fps. So that one goes into the 5 gallon bucket. Way to slow for me. I also learned that IBO is a highly flawed system. My Advertised IBO is 345. It’s actually 324.
