Wow, scrolling through the names of the first hundred or so members - so many good conversations where new ideas were hashed out! Makes me nostalgic for the good ole days...Best I can do right now:
Cat's out of the bag. Yes that's me.Back then, I didn’t even know who Eberhart was or Scott Hamilton. So is that Red Squirrel?

Just some dude - didn’t he pretty much design what is now the drey? I believe I saw a post where it was either him or no one special that basically laid out the dimensions and design for the hammock and even went over how he built it. It was way ahead of its timeThose were a bunch of the users from the early days. Here are the first 10:
me
Casey from New Tribe
Boswell
joaxe
100rollie
nyjerry
bigburner
the turkey guy
chris conroy
Saddle Assassin
When I started this I had put a message on the archery talk thread and messaged some of the guys on there about it. John Eberhart made the first 20. I see a couple names in the top 20 that pop up from time to time but man this place has changed since. I'm happy to see @ImThere is still poking his head in now and again. justsomedude definitely should be on your list too!
I know guys were tying fleece blankets and towels/ sheets, but if memory serves me correctly this particular thread, he literally laid out step by step, dimension by dimension and improvement by improvement of a hammock specific saddle. I am pretty familiar with what guys were doing before the return of commercial saddles and slings, I was just wondering if it was in fact justsomedude that created that post. The drey, I believe they call that convergent evolution. Stuff like that was everywhere on here 5-6 years ago. Literally the first "saddle" I ever tried was just an old towel with a webbing bridge over an RC harness. Just something to try before I dropped coin on a Kestrel. Pretty much an unrefined drey.

Yea when I discovered this website a couple years ago, I went on some binge reading. I had hunted saddles off and on for years and had no idea there was a forum for it. Let alone how many duper creative and helpful people there are on here. I remember reading his stuff specifically because he really is a tinker with it until it works kind of guy and that’s how things are created or made better. It’s just a guy with ideas, and trying things out until it either works or is made better. I respect that.Justsomedude definetly the diy master. Those old threads are soooo much better quality than all the recent filler material
That sure does look like 2tc to me.....View attachment 77555
I think they are talking about Dorothy's boy but I'm not sure.Scott who?
We are a team on this site. We feed off each other's ideas and suggestions. Our journeys morph. One chance meeting, or off-the-cuff comment leads to all sorts of avenues and ideas.Ok....I'll throw my thoughts out there...
The saddle hunting revolution would not exist if it were not for @redsquirrel and this site.
It is because of this site Tethrd exists( I know I give them a lot of crap, but they are extremely good at marketing, and really pushed saddles mainstream in a "Mobile" thursty Market). Saddlepalooza never would have happened, people never would have met. Ideas never would have been shared.. It is because a lot of the trial and error of members on this site commercial platforms exist. Its because of this site that single strap on steps are now back in production. Its because of this site.....
If it wasn't for this site and it's now MASSIVE reach, companies like trophyline never would have come back and the umpteen other saddle producers wouldn't exist.
If it wasnt for this site and some key members(@Allegheny Tom ), Treehopper never would have brought back the anderson....
If it wasnt for this site and a few members, Treehopper would never have looked into the windwalker and bought Loc-On
If it wasnt for this site wild edge steps probably would have faded like Jim stepps...
If it wasnt for this site and a few members(@kyler1945 ), the JX3 may have never come to what it is
If it wasnt for this site....
Now if it could just all go back to the way it was when it was just this site
