Whose rockin the wild edge steps this year

I use 3 steps and a movable 4-step aider. I can comfortably get my feet to 18', 21' if I stretch it. Super light and packable; I carry the steps and aider on my saddle a.d it weighs in at 8.4lbs with everything. Just a small pack and my bow wraps up my total setup.

Anyone know of other producers? Preferably in Canada? I've only found one quote from a fabricator but they're pretty expensive ($48 ea).

Can you not get WE steps in Canada? Maybe shipping is ridiculous?

Try Primal Steps?
My primal steps are all bent (now) but I have yet to bend a WEI step.

FWIW, I cut the straps off of my Primal steps and sewed them onto WE steps - dadgum perfect now using the WE knot with the Primal straps.

Packs much better and is quiet and secure to the tree.

Oh, I ditched the cam buckles. Just tie as WE suggests but with a strap vs their rope.

5-7 Wild Edge steps will be my primary method this year. 5 hanging off of the Gripr, 1 or 2 set up standing on the ground. Knaider to stretch the height out a bit. They all go into the hydration bladder attached to a Predator pack for the hike in. Unzip, attach 1 or two, rest of them hanging on the Gripr and up we go!

I think I’ve heard of the Gripr but not sure. Anyone have a link to it they can throw on here?

Does anyone use amsteel ropes in place of the original ropes?
Yep, lots of people do. The amsteel is way more supple and easy for me to tie and untie. There’s way less stretch during the setting process, none after the Stepp is set.

I bought one last year.
It’s great for attaching all my steps together and then to my pack.

Oh yeah that’s right. I remember it now. Yeah that does look pretty nice! Too and they’re sold out right now.

i take 5 steps with k/s and use either 3 or 4 steps climbing, then a predator platform with one step slightly higher and to the left of my platfrom... i like additional mobility the step gives me...allowing to rotate to my left all the way to the 5 oclock shot..with just the platform i can shoot to maybe 2 oclock going to the left.... otherwise ive got to rotate on the platform and i think that forces a lot more movement for a shot

I always wondered about that. Isn't the rope stretch (on pre-stretched ropes) necessary to get a good cam over? I don't quite get the physics involved in using amsteel instead if the stock ropes. Do the stepps bend then snap back as you cam over with amsteel? I guess I assumed the stock ropes were providing that snap or pop that makes the set nice and tight.

I think the difference between the amsteel and the stock poly ropes is that the amsteel just stretches much, much less. It still has enough give to allow the cam over, but man-- you can really feel how much tighter the cam-over is. I also noticed a very small amount of give over time as the poly ropes sat on the tree. I set them up tight on big trees for several days in the Florida heat, but still noticed a tiny bit of stretch that isn't as apparent with the amsteel.

And I don't think that the slight amount of extra tension is worth the time and money to replace the lines. They work well, Wild Edge designed and released a great product. But when you combine the extra tension, the suppleness of the rope, the decrease in bulk... Probably worth it to the type of person who just has to fiddle and fine-tune everything.

Like a moth to the flame, man. That sounds good - might have to give it a try! I was thinking about getting a longer rope for at least the bottom stepp after running into some trees I couldn't climb...seems like an amsteel order from ewo is in my future. Again
