Yes to the first question, and no to the second. I used the Maverick hitch and it has 2 loops around the rope so holds friction very well because they are loose to each other and thus pull in slightly different spots and directions. For those of you who have used rope stiffeners on your tethers, do you use these same tethers to hang from at hunting height?
Have you had any concerns about them opening up and falling when weight is taken off of them? If not, how have you managed to keep them closed?
So I had no issues, just wanted something that would open my rope up better and make it like a climber rubber strap in that I could grab the girth hitch point and have the loop just follow my hand up the tree till I put weight on it and recinched it. Mostly it was to keep the loop open to not catch on loose bark! For you guys using rope stiffeners, what ropes sans stiffeners were you having issues with that you wanted it stiffer? I'm running 9mm CIV for my top/rappel and find it holds its shape pretty well and I can flick it up on all but the biggest trees (20" diameter and up) which I rarely hunt. 8mm res tech on the bottom is a little softer and I wouldn't mind a little more stiffness, but not to the point where its a problem. Maybe every third or fourth move I have to flick it up, not get enough, and do it again. I think its mostly my technique though.
thanks,
rick
So you're saying we should make a 2TC stick of sorts....Plus ...the whole industry sells sticks.no matter how many people hurt thier selves with them.they would be lobbying for you to not buy thier products cuz you dont need them.2tc.is anti industry.so much industry time and money into making theses unnesasarry flogging sticks fancyer to scrape yourself with...they dont even want you to mention 2tc.at the product line.i will be happy to sell everybody some tail light fluid if they want it ,how else will you get up a tree.no point in looking at tonnes of gear you dont need.2 tether or die dude.
Haha! I was right in the middle of watching this when you posted
John did a really nice presentation on the Blake's hitch and some interesting variants that I am going to have to give a closer look too when the season is over. Just thought I'd share. I love the Blakes on the foot tether.
In this business timing is everything, lol.Haha! I was right in the middle of watching this when you posted
I'll be there peddling spaghettiI’ve been waiting to see the new 2TC product lines launched at ATA 2024.

Sorry if you've already shared this in the thread, but what rope are you using for your tethers?Agreed. I love my current tethers which are stiff but you've gotta keep an eye on them for this reason
Dy-tech from V.elo, has a dyneema core, with technora and polyester cover, break strength of 5,200 lbs, and very stiff, 9’ long. It's only 6mm, so not for everyone but I like it. I haven't tried 2tc with caynon Elite but I haven't noticed any issues using it other timesSo if

I'm planning to buy a couple of tethers to use exclusively for 2TC and thinking about going with the wide Samson Predator, or the 9mm Canyon Elite. Hoping for something stiff, but not so stiff it will open up on its own.
Would love any recommendations.
