Why don't yall 2TC?

Good one! In the interest of furthering the conversation, could you answer my question? I'm sure I'm not the only one who may benefit from the answer.

Wait. A. Second. You may not be able to answer the question! Forgot about that possibility. Sorry, my man!
The draw back is running the rope through the eye, and maybe the bulk of the knot. On a shorter piece of rope, not a big deal really and it is common for tethers to have sewn eyes that you feed the tag end through to choke the tree.

I'm not a knot expert but any means but if you tie your own loop, which is fine, be sure that you're using an appropriate knot to do so. This is life support on a tether. A figure eight comes to mind as a secure loop that's appropriate for life support and is pretty simple to tie and untie if that's a factor for you. - for compliance with the SHPD, I'm just some dude on the internet so take that "advice" at your own risk

One benefit besides rappelling could be going around limbs. You could simply ‘explode’ the knot and retie it above the limb and keep going.

There’s no need for a mavericks hitch in 2 tether climbing. The only need is for 2 tethers of at least 8ft after end loops are tied (8-12mm rope), 2 prusiks, and a footloop of your choosing.

Everything else or anything more is catered to the individuals needs.

Also @BTaylor since 2TC down is so easy we don’t necessarily encourage rappelling as a necessity in the 2TC thread.

Was someone here asking to see a climb on a rappel rope as the top tether or on a rappel rope as both a top and bottom tether?

I am interested in climbing with the same rope for top and bottom tether then rappelling in it. I recognize the smaller diameter typically used for rappelling may not be ideal for 2TC but I’m curious if it’s being done.

I threw something together the other day on a whim but with no go pro it turned out garbage.

Do you want to retain the ability to both rappel and pull the the rope down after with other end of rope or would attaching a pull down rope suffice?

Climbing both ends is pretty simple to do.

Pull down rope is assumed. I’m pretty comfortable with that.

Built in rappel (climb with figure 8 or atc inline) or ability to attach rappel device to come down at end of hunt?
Attach at end is my thought. I’ve tried different combo devices and haven’t been totally impressed.

Maverick and the running jrb hitch are remote releasable so you dont have issues with your line being hung in limbs. That is for folks who are going to rappel. If you are going to hang from a short tether there are several options. I think the best I remember seeing was to tie a carabiner on the end of your tether and add a prussik below it. The hitch becomes your tether attachment and tensioner so your tether doesnt want to drop if unweighted. Throw hte biner around the tree and clip into the hitch, adjust for tension. There is a photo example in a thread on here but I dont remember which thread that was in. I would maybe consider changing the hitch used to a sticht hitch so you would be clipping into a 2 strand loop for the benefit of higher strength on the primary attachment.

Late in the game to 2TC.....so pardon the ignorance..LOL. What is the best/most used method for top or foot tethers? I get stiffness helps the rope....but attachment to open while climbing is my question. Thanks!

I'm planning on taking a single aider I bought a while ago that uses a rubber fuel line to keep the loop open, then carabiner it to the lower tether.
My son and I are going to practice this Thursday and possibly hunt with this method after Christmas day.

My question is: quick links...or other methods to attach tethers...?
