XOP Platform kits?

The insert is a nice touch. I know the original post I made had slight hole ovalization and I'm only about 180.

Can someone who has the xop brackets please do me a huge favor and measure the length of one of the mounting bolts? The ones I found are 2 7/8" end to end including the head and are to long for this application. I think the xop post is longer front to back. The problem is, I have so much mix and match hardware around here that I want to make sure I am looking at the right bolts.

Not a big deal, if they are too long, I'll provide the right length bolts. I just want to verify, before I package up a bunch of unneeded hardware.

Give me a few I'll measure mine. I know the stock XOP were too long and I cut them down.

This is probably written somewhere and I just can't find it...

What brackets do you guys think are the best ones to use?

There are two on the XOP website ('six point' and 'climbing stick standoff', both $9.99); I could also use the ones that came with the LWs or the ones that came on the Muddy Pros.

Did anyone look into this systematically to find out which ones work best, and what's the recommendation?

Thanks guys!

I haven't tried any of the others, but these are built to accept the six point brackets. Not to say others or even lone wolf brackets won't work.

The XOP six-point brackets work great. They are heavier but they really dig in good! The teeth on them are almost too sharp and i've made myself bleed a couple times scraping against them lol. I had Muddy brackets on my first version and they did work but after using it a while the top bracket started to bend. I don't think you will ever see that with the XOP brackets.

Man, I can't wait to stand on this thing. Going to be like standing on a cloud compared to Ameristeps!

Been a game changer for me. I hated the ameristeps I had lol.

Pay homage to the Ameristep. It was once the best option in the universe. And for me, they remain so!!!

I know lots of guys use them. Maybe I didn't give them a fair shake. I could never get them solid enough for my liking. I was happy enough with the top of my Muddy stick and two screw ins. The platform is like having a stand without the uncomfortable seat attached to it lol.

I still have issues with them from time to time also. But the are so easy to carry in and set up it's hard to take the platform leap. With all due respect to all of you guys that jumped in and figured out the dynamics to the platform and what makes them work, I do intend to get one. The evidence for their usability is very clear now.

The Ameristeps are fine but I am a big guy and putting all, or most, of my weight into a tiny 1" wide step can be pretty uncomfortable. I do have trouble getting them to stay out sometimes even with the OCB buckle but I think I have too many steps on the strap and it can't grip the tree enough.

I imagine I will still use a few with the platform to get my 360° around the tree.
