Introducing the 2017 Aero Hunter Kestrel

I see a lot of people going with grey as the color instead of camo. Why?

Haha, very true. All about style points if your walking out empty handed.

Looks like my TL is gonna sell on eBay, now if it goes for $225 or more, I'm rolling that PayPal $ into a kestrel. I have 2 large TL that I haven't even hunted out of! Just got the saddle bug in January .... now for my question. I'm a 38" waist should I go w size 1? I m thinking I would rather lose 10 pounds than be on the small side of a size 2. Am I thinking wrong?

Also grey matches the tree bark.. And grey looks cool. It's all about looking cool

As far as camouflage goes, I have far better luck with patterns with a fair amount of lighter neutral colors to break up my outline. Gray was the only option in this category. All the other patterns were too dark IMHO. Plus, It's easy to add dark accents or even items (e.g. accessories) than the other way around.

Camo doesn't necessarily mean game can't see it. However gray pairs with my sitka gear so you know if I dont get a deer at least I'll look good and matching.

That's exactly why I got grey because it matches my Sitka

Agree with all the grey comments. I felt grey will hold up better all the way from early through late season.

I ordered camo without thinking too much about it... a rush to get my order in. Now you guys have me thinking .... did I order the right color...

Is this a plot to double or triple sales because now I have to order grey...

Also my wife is more important than hunting. or hunting equipment. She is irreplaceable. But she does not mind me enjoying my deer hunting or buying a Kestrel if we can afford it... . 33 years married and I am glad I am not single

I ordered the camo version. It may look like a dark blob. I figured with a dump pouch and linesmans rope coiled on the back the pattern will be broke up anyway. Very little of my camo matches. Never really bothered me too much. Deer don't seem to care. I always figured it was better to have two or three different blobs in a tree than one big one.

Lord knows I love to hunt but I will still take my wife over hunting. No question. 10 years and so worth it. We both work hard at getting along and it is well worth the investment.

I too ordered camo. Almost ordered gray but thought maybe it was a bit light. I really don't think it matters much. More important to the hunter than the deer IMO. It is good for me to see guys like Dan Infalt who go out in army camo or flannel and consistently shoot big bucks. Kinda refreshing after all the hype these days. That said I agree most camo is entirely to dark..

Here is a podcast I was listening to yesterday that relates to this thread. This guy says to stay away from grey tones as they tend to put off blue light in low light conditions and deer see blue really well. Says it at about 31:50, for what its worth.

There are so many grey colored things in the woods I wouldn't worry about it. I've never had an issue myself.
