Awesome! How long are the workouts?

30 minutes. The idea is how far can you make it before you have to take a break. Then when you start feeling good about yourself, they make them harder

I do a mix of high intensity circuit training, OL, and crossfit (medball, kettlebells, TRX, tire flipping, hammer, rope climbs, you name it),....what I fail at is cardio. this year I added rock climbing into the mix (working on improving grip strength)

I guess I should say...interval cardio I'm good, steady state cardio not so much.

I have done obstacle course races for the last 2 years, mostly Spartans, but also did the Bonefrog Challenge in May. nothing like active and retired Navy SEALs barking at you to do push ups or burpees. lol

The hardest one I've done was The Spartan Killington Beast....15.5 miles filled with countless obstacles, including the mountain (we summitted something like 4 times) took me 9 hours to complete the race. I tell you. I felt like I could do ANYTHING after conquering that beast.

Since hunting season started I've been kind of a load. make it to the gym once a week.

Another ocr guy! I loved the bonefrog. I wish they hadn't stopped doing races.

I have to say I'm impressed if you did the Killington beast. That is no joke! We train here at the local ski hill running laps and had several people make the trip out there.

I am hoping to do my first trifecta this year. I have a shoulder that gives me trouble sometimes. So we'll see how it goes.

Have you ever looked into goruck?

@Erniepower ...Bone Frog is still racing, it's Battlefrog that stopped doing races in favor of their TV competition series.

I swear to God, I cried at the finish line of Killington. Hardest thing (physically AND mentally) I've ever done in my life. I still can't believe people do Ultrabeasts (same race twice, back to back). I got the trifecta in 2015...was going to do it again this year but a lifetime of using my body as a battering ram caught up with me...Chondromalacia Patella and Shoulder impingement forced me to defer Killington and the Fenway Stadium Sprint.

I've looked into Goruck and Toughruck but never done one.

Bone frog battle frog. Yep, my mistake. Bonefrog hasn't made it to the Midwest yet.

I know the feeling with an abused body. I had a slap tear repaired in my right shoulder. It took three years to finally trust it. I was feeling great and killing courses. I qualified for the world championship ocr race last year at battlefrog, and again at the minnesota Spartan sprint. (Both in the over 40 division) Then two days after the sprint my shoulder started giving me problems again. I am hoping with time and therapy to be back at it this summer.

I have ran tough mudders, battlefrog, warrior dash, goruck, and lots of road races. The Spartan sprint was by far the hardest. And it was a sprint! I have never been so happy to see a finish line. Our sprint was at a ski resort as well and I have heard it's the hardest sprint in the country but still. At one point I ran past people who were literally crawling up the side off the hill.

yup, slap tears are fun. lol...I had partially torn labrum and rotator cuff, and my shoulder Sublux'd (dislocated) my first shift in an Ice Hockey game. (over the boards on D, the puck got rimmed around and I tried to one-time it, and as soon as my stick hit the ice my shoulder popped out. I played the whole game with a 'wet noodle' on my right side. everyone in sports med was like 'wait, you subluxated your shoulder 'taking' a shot?' lol my shoulder was sublux'd for 2 and a half days afterward.

surgeon took one look at the MRI and said 'that tear has been there for years....so I don't think surgery...lets try PT first. since PT its been fine...it was my 'other shoulder' that kept me from Killington this year.

Bone Frog is so much better than Battlefrog....I hope it stays around for a long time. I think they only do two or three venues, here in Mass, somewhere down south like SC or GA, and I think they added NJ this year. they offer a 3, 9, or 12 mile race (the 12 is the 3 & 9 together). I did the 9. the 'death march' was called Stairway to Valhalla and was almost 900 feet of vertical in 1/2 mile. not as bad as Killington..but grueling.

here is the GPS track for my Killington, lookes like fun doesn't it?:

I havnt done this yet, but this year i plan on hiking through woods with a weighted back pack a few times a week...

I have worked out a lot in the past. Used to bench over 400, squat about the same, and and I still have a lot of strength from doing that... i definitely need to do some kind of cardio though...

Re: RE: Re: Working out

All that sitting and tv HAS to pay off.
I don't own a tv, but I do a fair amount of nothing. I gUess that's why I gain weight in winter. There's no veggies to pick, no bunnies to cull and freeze, no weeds to pull from garden.
I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible. But after deer season, I develop an allergy to temperatures below about fifty degrees.
I've been doing a bit of clearing out in the woods. I try to make a new small clearing every year to plant fruit trees and throw n grow stuff. Plus my guerrilla gardens. Dang deer keep killing a lot of the smaller trees and bushes. So I do a bit of digging

Shaun
You know,. a big part of deer hunting is being able to sit still and quiet in a tree for hours at a time, TV is perfect for practice LOL

@bubba g I'm just east of worcester.

I wasn't sure if there were any other ma$$h0!es on here. lol

lol... yep we're everywhere...

You must hunt in zone 10... I'm considering heading that way next year. Deer concentrations are very low here in the western part of the state...

@hickstick. Are you racing this year? I just looked at the schedule and will be doing the minnesota sprint and Chicago super since they are close, but now need a beast. I love the Killington idea but I will be elk hunting those dates. I thought about Montana but that is early in the year and hard to train for in the snow. Colorado Rockies at Breckenridge is tempting but it is at 10000 feet. Tahoe is too late.

As I type this, I think I may just have to do montana. I just hate training in the snow. On the plus side, I am planning on a half marathon in April so that part helps.....
