Is the prusik able to get a firm hold on the Amsteel bridge?
Is that a stopper knot on the end of the bridge? I thought I read no knots could be used with Amsteel.

I was a skeptic and even told Greg I had no clue AMSTEEL would work like that and that I had my doubts. I was wrong. I can say 100% after having tested it every sit this year - it does NOT move - at all. Anyone can make or tweak a saddle, not everyone can be innovative while doing so.
It works great. I was skeptic at first to. I thought it would possibly slip since Amsteel is so slick but I was just wrong. It holds great.

Yall acting like this is a breakthrough....

I cut off my 8mm double fisherman's knot and put on a ropeman. Iike it way better personally. I like an adjustable bridge and found it to be a pain when its -15 and the rope is basically frozen to adjust with the prussik.

You guys care to mention if you tested that amsteel to amsteel bridge & prussik when thoroughly wet? If you say you did, next I'll ask about thoroughly wet with baby oil. I don't distrust you - I'm just trying to put my mind at ease about it's grip. :)

Are we taking about the same thing? You’re saying you put a Ropeman on the amsteel bridge?

We’re not talking about the linemans belt.

I haven't used/tested mine in significant rain. I can go home and wet it and see what happens and report back though. I ain't putting no baby oil on it though....

Baby oil in a saddle? They're meant to be used for hunting!

FWIW, I’m gonna guess it holds up well when wet. The suppliers from whom most buy amsteel are Marine/Fishing suppliers.

The prussic is a 3/16" piece configured/spliced into a continous loop
The bridge is 1/4" amsteel lock brummels with the bury the entire length
makes sense... thanks for clarifying. I say @putt4doe 's video and it shows the spliced amsteel continuous loop. cool stuff.

It looks like the slickness of the amsteel makes it easy to adjust... they didn't factor in any type of tender - though I did notice they used two hands to adjust.

In my experience, a prusik on an adjustable bridge never locks down that tight because it only sees half of the force of your weight, unlike a prusik on your tether which absorbs all of your weight.

Yes the bridge is burried the full length. The prusik is a continous loop so there is a bury from each side that comes through and touches each other so that the prusick is basically a full burry. YouTube how to make a contious loop and you will better understand what I am referencing. Sorry, hard to explain.

Thanks, I am familiar with splicing as I’ve done lots of Amsteel rope mods with the locked brummel and some loops for knaider/swaider on my sticks. I am gonna try to make one of these DIY and see what shakes loose.

I am glad this will be available and the ‘comfort channels’ are addressing a real world comfort issue. I seemed to remember that these had been suggested in the past and I found the post...

As far as the adjustable bridge with a prussic, I have been doing that for years, but with rope, not Amsteel.

I am assuming the prussic is smaller diameter than the bridge, right?

I’m not bashing, I’m just saying that these ideas have been out there in the past. Tethrd just put them together in a finished product and addressed a need. Good on them. I remember being depressed when John Eberhart posted on AT that Trophyline was going out of business. I was almost afraid to hunt from my Tree Saddles because I thought they were going to have to last me the rest of my life.

I am excited to see the Phantom at Saddlepalooza.
