Umm ... Aerohunter Retires Kestrel and Kite

I agree. Their wait times increased far to long.

Only thing I wished they offered was the flex in mesh.
That could be next. I've been waiting for a mesh Flex for awhile but it never came. I bought a Cruzr XC because I couldn't wait any longer. So my Kestrel will probably be gone and I will hunt out of my Flex and Cruzr this fall. But I think Areohunter will eventually come out with a mesh Flex and maybe I be getting one of those.

And then look at the assassin prices before the ambush was released.

Exactly. If there is not substitute, price will go up. If there is a substitute, price will stagnate or drop. Is there a suitable substitute for a kestrel or kite? My money is on yes. I don't see value going up

People have said that the H2 saddles are comparable or more comfortable than the kestrel. I've only used the H2 so I can't attest to it, but the H2 is pretty comfortable IMO. Also the turnaround time is short compared to what it was for an Aerohunter. But I get that they make arborist equipment as well.

The turn around time for H2 is 10 weeks. I think Aerohunter is less than that.

I'm referring more to last season when people waited six months to get theirs. Got my H2 in like two weeks. Granted he's gotten more popular and the wait times have increased since.

Maybe amongst the truly crazy enthusiastic saddle hunter crowd you’ll see some high price buys. There are just too many options for that nonsense one might have seen a few years back.

I never tried it. Why was it underrated

It just didn’t appear to me that they were hyped up as much as the kestrel and the flex, even though they were excellent saddles. I think people wrote them off and they didn’t get popularized because of it. Maybe they were overshadowed by the flex but they are darn good saddles. As you can tell the folks that have them are big fans, some even have backups.

Between the standard Kestrel and the Kite, the default buckle config on the Kite didn't seem appealing to me.

The latest "game changer" is coming guys, get that $$$ ready...

I personally hope that aero hunter keeps to it’s arborist / Rec tree climbing roots with their hunting saddles. Built like a tank by experienced builders and designer for safety first and comfort right behind that, then weight. And with a long track record for producing quality and safe products.

I have no qualms for paying a little more and having it weigh a little more than other companies. I want weight bearing waist and leg straps, commonly accepted ropes/straps used in the tree climbing industry, comfort and camo would be a nice to have.

IMO, the last thing aero hunter should be doing is going the amsteel bridge with amsteel friction hitches in endless loop configuration. Or clips for leg loops. Looking at Sampson site for splicing, I do not see an approved “endless loop” splice. If aero hunter chases the “lightest is best” route, it will be to their folly.

I hope aero hunter stays in their lane of tank built, safe and comfortable saddles built by a company with a long track record of safety. They own that lane. I don’t see anyone being able to compete in that lane with them.

There is room enough for all the competitors. There are saddles for people with different criteria for purchasing.

All this has me thinking I should buy a backup flex now.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
