I have 3 Spypoint micro LTE trailcams. One has the solar charging panels. Never had any issues with them. I've upgraded all of mine to the rechargeable lithium battery pack (the solar one comes with the lithium battery). I wait till they go on sale at Cabelas for a decent price before I buy them. After 3+ months, the solar charged one is still showing 100% battery! Any new ones I buy will be the solar ones, since you get the lithium battery with that, and total cost when on sale is a bit less than adding the battery to the the non-solar model.
The few times I've reached out to Customer Service, they were quick and helpful, though I haven't had any issues with the cameras.
I also signed up for their Insider's club...which has an annual fee, but gives you discounts on photo plans and accessory purchases, which has paid for itself. If you are a member of that club, you also get 250 photos per month per camera with no extra photo plan fee, which is nice. On my most active trailcam I'll bump it on a month to month basis to 1000 photos per month and then just cancel that when the hunting season is done.
I have found that in some of the spots I want to put the cams, like down in a valley far from a cell tower, I needed to get the extended antenna. I set up one camera in a gut where we hunt moose and bear in the back country, probably 10 km from the nearest tower, and with the extended antenna, was able to get a signal and photos transmitted. Kind of nice to be able to monitor one of our key bear/moose spots from a hundred miles away. Also got a pic of a cow moose passing through during the actual hunt, which let us know one was in our hunting area.
Love them! Let's me know to avoid stands that have no activity and thus not burn out the locations needlessly. And as others have mentioned, it's a blast to see what the cameras have picked up every morning, even if it's only squirrels and coons.
