Niiiiiice.that was awsome.only on the internet can things escalate from hey kids dont be scared of the dark to you just killed and mamed hunters with your words.wish I could kill a deer like that.
They where all pretty loose on every one i saw..who shock loads their saddle?its for sitting in..I don't mean you i know its your job to make and test safe gear and osure people its safe.so I will be the first to admit all my little sisters are tougher than me.nothing to do with pride.i also can overthink an irational fear.but we tie our selves to trees so we can't fall. there's nothing safer than a saddle when it comes to elevated hunting. However if this was a focus group it wouldn't take a genius to tell who is scared of the Easter bunnyWho shock loads a zip line though? For the record the zip line harnesses also have leg straps
First off I’ll start by saying I use my leg straps. I’m not debating it. I’ll just wear them. Not that big of a deal to me.
My question is I worked as an apprentice lineman for a few years and climbed a lot. To my knowledge there isn’t a single lineman’s belt with leg straps. There’s dude climbing all over the country everyday not using leg straps.
Anyways Ik a saddle isn’t a lineman’s belt but anyone care to I guess explain the difference? Or why you don’t think they compare. Thanks!
Again I’ll just keep using them. Main reason I ask if I saw the TX5 Minimalist saddle has legs straps you can remove. I thought why not just not use them? Then I saw this thread lol
Is that a common thing for them?I'm interested in rock climbers cutting off their leg straps.
How many times has your platform strap broken and ya fell suddenly with no leg straps ? None? Well, ok, how many times have ya just jumped off your platform at 25 feet with a little slack to see how it works out? 100? 10? None?Cut mine off 3 years ago no regrets....yet.

The fact that someone has "no regrets" is completely and totally irrelevant if you haven't experienced these scenarios and with HIGH confidence, you're safe every time. The leg straps aren't there for normal situations. They are there for abnormal situations. I have tried to jump out of my tree literally a million times. No hands, no feet, just let go, at anytime during ascent, the sit, or the rappel. And I have never moved an inch cuz there's never any slack. And if i did, the leg straps would catch me.
Cutting your straps out is kinda like speeding on a motorcycle at night on a wooded country road during the rut with no helmet. We are taking a chance we don't need to take.

No.Is that a common thing for them?
Guys listen your leg straps are positioning the saddle on you. They only assist with load bearing if you fall, especially if you fall on your lineman’s loops/rope. Leave them on! If your climbing stick stand-off ever bends or cuts out, you’re gonna wish you had them!First off I’ll start by saying I use my leg straps. I’m not debating it. I’ll just wear them. I had my stick kick out while I was one sticking season before last. It was a little scary and yes my saddle was wanting to ride up towards my armpits but it never did and I eventually made it down safely. Im comfortable with my current setup and everyone has risk to take when climbing. I cut my leg straps off for comfort and maybe my next saddle I get if I find the leg straps not to bother me then I will leave them on.
Exactly… we take a risk every time we drive our trucks to work. There are crazy distracted road raging drivers. Tractor trailer guys who were up all night on the road and then rain, wind or for some, snow.. I don’t increase my chances of an accident by driving erratic and weaving in and out of traffic like I’m in a fast and furious movie. Maybe some do. Maybe they’ve never had an accident or been hurt? But just because someone else does it, doesn’t mean you have to do it. People have survived falls from airplanes when their chutes failed. How many of y’all wanna jump out of a plane with no parachute just to prove you’ll survive? Not me lolThere is risk, then there's unnecessary risk.
I'm glad you didn't get hurt.
Right. Things that make you go hmmmmm.….when’s have you ever seen a parachutist jump with no leg straps?I'm interested in rock climbers cutting off their leg straps.
Yep, safety isn’t about not taking any risk, it’s about risk reduction when taking necessary or required risk. First rule of safety: Take no unnecessary risk. There is risk, then there's unnecessary risk.
