Who has removed leg straps? Any regrets?

Check the ladder injuries/ fatalities stats for relatively low heights you might be surprised.

Only you can determine what you comfortable with and the consequences of those actions. It is usually when we have done a specific thing many many times that we tend to become complacent and then become ripe for mistakes.

I would advise caution "Pride goes before destruction " Prov 16:18. Those guys while I am sure good at their jobs are nothing but fragile flesh and bone easily broken.

I agrea with geo.be safe.but after years of having them hang up on logs and blow down I stopped putting them on my own saddles.i just took my kids ziplining and not 1 little girl was worried about shock loading waist belts, ratings ,or caribiners they where just having fun .distractions while hunting don't work.if you can't just tie off and hunt without worries than the ground might be beter.my friend will still fall off a pack seat and hurt himself.
Who shock loads a zip line though? For the record the zip line harnesses also have leg straps

yeah, if you can wear a rock climbing harness at all comfortably, then a saddle is way better

i wonder if it squeezes the jewels on some folks

just keep the leg straps low and not super tight
Low and loose straps have crushed dudes junk in falls before. They can end up in the wrong place when your weight hits the harness. The safety people on jobs that I’ve worked on like to point this out. Still the temptation to loosen them gets to everyone after a couple hours in the heat.

a vast majority of leg straps on saddles are not safety rated btw
This is very true however, a non rated buckle can still help keep you in position so that you don’t fall out of the saddle. In most drop tests by saddle companies, the leg strap g hooks bend but the straps rarely break and help keep the armless leg less dummy from slipping out or bouncing out in some videos

if they are not tested and rated, comparing them to the leg straps of a safety harness or climbing harness is a moot point. it becomes the illusion of safety at that point. you really cant give a safety rating to an item that has not been tested

I agree but by the same token saddles have no standards so most aren’t tested. Comparing them to any fall protection is inaccurate and only an illusion.

We put those up without leg straps .they didn't just appear there .climbed a ladder to get there.duh
 You said duh lol

seriously though not to tease anyone or call anyone tough, scared, weak or anything else… Y’all leave them leg straps on so that your saddle has resale value on the classifieds:cool:

Not to mention the straps are stitched on with a thread.worrie about it or worrie witch direction deer are approaching from.im not advocating for someone to get hurt.im simply saying you don't need to be so scared.im a roofer I don't talk about or think about falling like it's a religious beliefe.jyst find alot Of talk about skydiving and bunggie jumping ,minus the bungie ,on a hunting forum.

You Western Oregonians are TOUGH. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW! You should just hang with one arm and use your knees to hang on when you're ready to draw back. I agree with you...anyone else worried about falling is a pu$$!
