Team 8 Thread

The speed goat hunt went well. Now for elk on Saturday-Thursday (hopefully get a cow opening morning) Then down to South Bama somewhere in the last week of the month. I’ll be down there 10 days or so and will put up my other 5 points, hopefully with another 10 pointer! I’ve never seen anything with more points down there so I doubt I’ll be upgrading yet but I guess you never know. Worst case scenario I’ll bust up a doe or 3.

here’s the better half gutting her goat. 68BB8134-274E-4C68-8F9E-9C616F2A18CD.jpeg

Ok guys, I was starting to type a little story here about my on-goings up at my buddy's place.
Turns out I was on the Pursuit Platform thread not our Team 8 thread.
Anyways, I got it it done in New York!

Aiming to be out there tomorrow, trying a new spot. We have some weather rolling in tonight, along with some cooler temps, so I'm hoping it'll add to some movement. The only downside is that the Orange Army scouting team (muzzle loader) starts this weekend, so now I have to bust out the orange.

I’m up for the morning sit. A bit warmer and breezy today, and my arrows got hung up on brush while pulling my bow up. Had to climb back down to get them. Kind of a cluster of a morning at this point!

Last season my quiver slid off my bow during the hoist up on three successive hunts! Ditched that pos Quikee and went back to my Fuse, problem solved.
Good luck out there today.

Heard one deer blowing at something north of me. Wind was northwest, so I’m confident it wasn’t me. I walked over there on my walk out and there were some heavy human looking trails. There was one other car in the lot, and I can see anyone walking south of me, so my assumption is that deer was blowing at the other hunters scent trail as he walked into the swamp north of me.

The slow season continues for me. I’ll be hunting hard the next 4 weeks, with various limited entry, out of state trips, and local sits coming up!

Slow for me also. So far I've only seen one buck, a very nice for this area 120+/- 8 that stayed just out of range.

No shots at a doe yet other than when I had that buck around and didn't want to shoot. Total of 3 morning and 3 evening sits and only that one morning hunt was decent, everything else pretty much dead.

Rough time of year in the big woods. Deer are super scattered right now I'm not finding any fresh sign worth getting really excited about scouting. But the worst is behind us now I think. It should get a lot better after this week.

Wow, I have been inundated with grouse hunters this weekend. Never seen it like this before, especially since the weather was less than ideal (wet and windy) for upland bird hunting.

After having pretty good luck last weekend I was completely shut out (and soaked) this weekend. It rained horizontally every hunt, I think the wind was just too much for them. Best weather sit of the weekend was this morning but I still was shut out (and it still rained). Hopefully this is my October lull and next weekend things turn around again.

Good luck guys!

50mph gusts here with steady rain. Glad this held off until I had to be back at work, I was wet enough last weekend. :tearsofjoy:
Weather forecast for the upcoming weekend is supposed to be good though, believe it or not I should be able to hit some of my south wind spots for first time this year.
