Team 8 Thread

I dropped my bibs on the way in yesterday. Only had on high heat pants (basically shorts), temp wasn't bad low 50s dropping into upper 40s but the wind was brutal. Found them on the way out but the whole hunt there's always the question if you can find them in the dark.
No deer today but I did find my arrow. Apparently I lost it last Sunday morning walking out. I came out that way this morning and it was laying right there on the path through some thick stuff.

Sitting for a bit, but it's warm and windy today, so not much movement. Sat in a spot this morning and got blew at, but that's it so far today. Been walking and scouting some, but other than a bunch of armadillos and squirrels, nothing else seems to be out.

Got one this morning I'll get a story later took me 3 hours to pack him out of the he11hole I was in raced home and now I'm on kid duty the rest of the day. Great day!View attachment 74376View attachment 74377

Congrats!!

Very warm here. Wouldn’t think deer would move until late but saw a little spike about an hour ago

Opening day of smokepole. 85 degrees and 30mph south winds. Typical oklahoma lol.

Gonna use the wind cover tomorrow/Monday to do some scouting and drop a couple cameras on another property. Muzzleloader in hand of course. If I find something promising I may set up on it.

Some does came in about 5:30 but they stayed under some holly trees so I couldn’t get a shot

I finally saw a deer . . . Bumped it on the way out tonight about100yds from where I sat this morning. At least the weather is good and the scenery pretty.

Well, the first weekend in the park was an absolute bust. Very warm temps (downright hot at 78 today) conspired against us I think. Spent around 30 hours in my saddle without seeing any deer, except that one I bumped coming in yesterday. I’m tired, and my feet are sore as hell!

I’ll be headed to Michigan on Wednesday to hunt for a long weekend over there in the Manistee NF. Should be a good time, and hopefully more deer than I’ve seen this weekend at home!

You're not alone. I haven't seen in deer from the tree in 2 weekends (per my log that's 23 hours). It's getting old but my spirit are still good.

My rutcation starts at the end of working hours on Thursday night. One last round trip for the camper this year. I'll pull it to my favorite remote spot on Thursday night and it'll be home until Nov. 12th or 13th. Then I'll bring it back, stow it and swap out my gear for my rifle equipment and head to a buddies for rifle camp. In all I'm off work from the 28th thru the 16th.

Good luck in Michigan @MN_Bowhunter4!

Headed to Bama tomorrow. Should have a deer down in a few days or less. Not sure I'll be able to upload from deer camp down there but I'll get pics and load it when I can. I have high hopes for a mature buck this year on the lease. Planning to spend this week scouting and getting trails and shooting lanes cut so Im set up for the rut when I go back in Jan. If I can knock down a deer or two this week whatever they are and a few hogs I'll call it a win until I can get back for the rut.

I haven't decided on rutcation dates just yet. Normally it would start about now but with this warm weather, I'm thinking of delaying it.

You guys aren't the only ones who haven't seen any deer while hunting. Spoke with a few buddies who agree that they have all but disappeared from their usual areas.

Well I did have a 4 pt walk up a hill to within 20 yards of me while I was scouting a new property. I was squatting on the ground studying my map and looked up to my left to see him staring at me. We stared at each other for a few minutes before he decided the strange looking blob was not good for his health and went back downhill. The way my season is going so far I would have had a hard time resisting the urge to send an arrow his way had he given me the opportunity, lol.

After work sit. Overcast with wet ground allowed me to get in very quiet. Now I just need a bone head to slip up
