New Gear for 2023, Go!

MR Popup 28 and 38 are on camofire today. I'll just keep telling myself that I don't need another pack.

Anyone have the specs on the XOP platform? Is 2.9# a real life number?

I like argali stuff but the sticks are too much for me. The $30 carbon sticks from Costco have been awesome so far. 5 years, a bunch of elk packed out and 100’s of miles hiked.
Sigh..... carbon Costco trekking poles purchased... I have known about them for years but this pushed me over the edge. I love you and I hate you.

XOP allegedly releasing a 12.5lb climber, 7.5lb and 5.5lb hang ons. All machined. More of a premium price as well. The climber peaks my interest. Not so much the hang ons if their $400+ estimate is accurate for a Chinese made stand.

I took a look at the new PU 30 and 40 the other day on the MR website. Good to see they have addressed some of the issues with the PU38. Still not a fan of the shroud that carried over from the 38 to the 40, but that is personal preference. In looking at the pictures, though, I’m wondering why the molle webbing has become molle loops! Big, saggy loops of webbing. Attaching any sort of pouches on this would turn into a floppy mess, and floppy is no good! LOL. I’d like to be wrong….but can’t recall another pack having slack loops like that…..

One issue mentioned on the Pop Up was the waist belt.
Did they change the waist belt?
The belt does appear to be different yes, at least in the way the main buckle is seewn in. As to the overall shape/comfort it appears to be similarly styled but hard for me to tell if there's other noticable tweaks. side profile photos make it appear that it is removable just like the old gen yes, I haven't had a ton of issues with my old belt though so still have the stock one. Starting to think I need a "how to fit a pack" lesson though, I think I use my shoulders too much.

Here is my 38 for comparison:
