    Practice...

I've found that I shoot way better from a sitting position than a leaning one. The weak side shot should especially be practiced, even just the movements if not the shot.

I think I just saw one of these on AT as well.

    Backpack vs. Kneepads

I use a mystery ranch mule, and the padded hip belt works great as a kneepad. I hang the pack from the same gear hanger that my bow is on, similar to G2's gear hanger, and can adjust the height of the pack so that the hip belt is in the right spot. Attach the hip belt around the tree and tighten...

    A saddle/treestand harness

+1 on the RC harness. Never understood the shoulder harness, half the time it gets in the way of your draw, or limits your vision, or doesn't allow you to turn around, plus in the event of a fall it leaves you hanging in a way that is difficult to recover from, with the tether above and behind...

First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

If the idea of the tube is to add rigidity to the belt, then why not a length of wire from a clothes hanger or something, taped to the back of the belt? Might be lighter than the tubing, and would still allow the teeth on the belt to grab the tree.

First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

Yeah, the heel strap is crucial. I have a piece of flat webbing about 3ft long with a buckle on one end, that I use to secure the base of the climber to the tree when I'm hunting. When I'm climbing I wrap that same strap around my heels and snug the buckle up, with my toes in a bungee wrapped...

First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

Tried it again last night with a few tweaks, and yep, this works really well. A little awkward, but will get better with practice. Kinda surprised this isn't more popular. Climbing method and platform in one, public land legal, at only about 5lbs. Plus the platform is big enough that you can...

Nice, thanks bro! That looks like it makes sense, I'll keep at it.

First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

Is there a video of someone climbing in this style? I tried it the other day with my XOP hand climber and it didn't make much sense to me. It would definitely be the perfect setup if I can get the climbing down without sweating and grunting my way up the tree.

    DIY spur pads?

I'm excited about this idea, but I'm still considering using my XOP hand climber for climbing/platform, in which case I won't need the spurs. Trying to prioritize gear spending. We'll see.

    DIY spur pads?

I know that most folks mod their pads and straps for hunting, but has anyone tried making their own pads from scratch? I'm considering buying a pair of bare climb right spurs, and making pads out of thin PVC material that I have around, padding them with pieces of an old foam mat. These would be...
