It's just one more smell to catch an old deer's attention. Why go through all the scent rituals just to put one more out? Any kind of foreign odor a deer will continue to investigate it. Like coffee for example, but maybe if I just drank water and ate acorns all day long it may not be much of a foreign odor to them. I know there's been times when I've used the bathroom out there and really wish I hadn't of but it was too late.

What scent rituals? Lol
I’ll try to look for the article, but I’m pretty sure I remember seeing that after a very short amount of time our urine is indistinguishable from other animals in smell.....

If you hunt down in the holler, you better be doing some scent rituals cause the wind is going to change no doubt about it. I would like to read the article tho.

I like the water bladders with the big open tops that seal and lock. Carry couple of the 1 liter sizes. Pee in them and place on my kidneys under an insulated suit. Keeps me warm for hours! Lol. Joking. I let it fly.

They say all pee is made from the same thing but it also has different scents depending on your diet. I know after a lot of coffee I can smell coffee when I pee. How it affects the deer? I think it affects each deer differently. Just like any scent. I try not to pee if I can, but I’m not carrying pee around.

I’ve read that shortly after going, all pee turns to ammonia so unless a deer sees you peeing and somehow associates humans with the particular sent they caught, they simply treat it as any other pee as so many of you have testified to. Let it fly!

I tried the "P" bottle thing but I have the bladder of a squirrel so after going once or if I'm lucky twice I just let it fly. So what's the point of have a noisy bottle!

I let it fly, but I do try to not piss on the leaves or branches if I can help it.

That being said... I have only dropped a deuce once from the saddle, and I’m positive that that will jack up your hunt. That is an interesting maneuver too. I’m pretty sure it’s the same maneuver that @huck72412 uses to put his spurs on at eye level!!!!

Bow hunting gets the bottle but gun hunting I just let it rip. In all seriousness though there's been quite a few people out there who swear by peeing in mock scrapes to start them up.

I hunted with a guy years ago and we both were using climbers. We met on a logging road at dark and we’re walking back to the trucks. He had a big lone wolf climber on his back and as he passed and got in front of me I spotted it. He had a big one gallon zip lock baggie somehow bungied up with his back pack and stuff hanging off his stand on his back. Boys I ain’t kidding ya it looked dang near full. Fear came over me that that thing was gonna pop at any second and go everywhere. I quickly picked up the pace and took and maintained point for the rest of the way.

I also just let it fly. Also when I come across a fresh scrap, I always pissed in it. For the guys that haven't tryed that, do it one time and throw up a camera. You will be amazed what comes by to check it!

Deer are a curious creature. I do not want to invite them to be curious around a stand site where they may pick up some less desirable scents Lear behind. While the urine itself may not be a big deal, it’s not a thing that I am willing to risk, in a high pressure area and alert them to my presence at all. If it goes into the woods, it also come out with me, in a bottle or some other form.
