2022 Fishing Thread

Exactly my thoughts. And yes, a dog back in my daily life has been one of several inputs that have changed my brains outputs.

Wait’ll you have kids. And something tries to hurt them. And you go all alpha predator on that %#+^{ and toss it on the grill. Circle of life and $}^+, ya know?

WTH?

What happened to the nutter-bustin’ quackin-wackin’ piggin-stickin’ fish-fillet-in’ cervid-slayin’ good ol’ boy from Southern Alabama?

It’s like our irreverent resident redneck’s been abducted by a vegan cult, (re)-donned a man-bun, and traded in his 4-wheel drive for a flower-power van that says “California or bust!”

Say it ain’t so!

Gonna have to change his handle to “Nuthinbuster” or “Nutterlover” and trade in all his weapons and fishing hooks for organic garden seeds, tofu burgers, hummus bowls, and fruit salad. SMH…

Not sure if this is allowed, LOL.
Last trip was 2019, then we all know what happened. I did not think we could go this year if Canada required a booster. Well they are not unless that changes in the next month.
Booked for August.

Took the kids out last night for bluegills. We lasted an hour before we were all ready to pack it in because of how gross it was. Caught 4 bluegills worth keeping.

Filleting the bluegills at home I found one of them looking like this

I immediately tossed it and am assuming it's parasites but do any of you know for sure?

Glad you posted this! I’ve been catching and keeping fish lately. I need to slow down and inspect more apparently

Apparently for these it doesn't matter. Little extra protein if you can stomach it. Some people say after you cook the fillets you can't see them and it's likely you've eaten them already and it doesn't matter. @GCTerpfan in hindsight I wish I would have just picked them out but oh well. Better safe then sorry especially when it comes to my kids.

I believe the red spots in the flesh, if you pick them you will find a long red tape like worm also.

Got my tracking number for the Tackle Talk podcast Summer box from Dark Horse Tackle. Can’t wait to see what’s in it. I’ve been pretty happy with everything I’ve gotten from them so far. I recommend them over Mystery Tackle Box if anybody is into that sort of thing.
