2024 Gear thread

Idk man, everyone in the south who hunts that I’ve met or know from the past 10 years or so owns or has owned at least 1 summit. Many of them own several. Several of my buddies still hunt out of open shots and swear by them. They sell tons of them, and they don’t last long in any local classifieds. I know sticks and hang ons are used some in the south but it seems that climbers still rule the roost at least in my parts of Alabama. Obviously my experience is limited but I’m not being hyperbolic when I say everyone I know uses a summit. They’re tried and true, easy to use, light enough, and extremely comfy. Yes they’re bulky and loud going through thick stuff but that doesn’t seem to keep them from killing deer consistently.
Yeah, a lot of people buy ladder stands and leave them in the woods too but they don't get much love here on saddlehunter either. I think summit knows it's niche, hunters that are going to carry the stand in at the beginning of season and leave it around the bast of the tree until the end of season. They sell plenty to that market at a comfortable profit margin so don't see the need to invest more to make a slightly lighter product that may or may not sell more.

I never owned a summit. Climber wise I have had Baker, Old Man, and API. Hunted off a couple summits that buddies had newer and way older versions.

What’s the weight on those? Didn’t see it

Oh solid steel

They are advertising how that are made out of steel and can be left out on the tree... That and selling with a stick spacer accessory makes me think they may not be targeting the mobile/lightweight crowd...

Huh. Those center cables are in interesting idea at the least, but I think it ends there? I don't think that would work for me, I like to stand right there most of the time. I guess another solution in seach of a problem.

The LW .5 cables don't get in my way, really at all. Very easy to step over it get into hardcore parkour, full lean for the B roll, saddle position. Never understood that one.
