Ar build

Right....but when ur an idiot and forget ur bullets/magazine and drive far away to go hunting or something else stupid happens.....
Ahhh I never thought of it quite like that, I dnt hunt with my rifles and they’re always with the ammo. But also, if I’m in a place with my rifle, there will be ammo.

Depends. With a 6.5 you can make that shot with almost any barrel, would a competition barrel make it easier? Of course, is it worth the extra money, well that up to you. But for that application idk what your pronghorn opportunity is like but I would just rent a rifle for a hunt like that. That way I wouldnot spend all this money building 6.5 Grendel and only use it once a year to snipe a pronghorn. Which by the way you can do with a good ol’ .308 or 338 Lapua. Idk where this push for these huge rounds came from but unless your a sniper or have a dying passion to shoot long distance 6.5 is overkill for most.
I just figured that it would be a worthwhile upper that I could use for both deer and varmints. In MI you can hunt coyotes at night with a gun under .270”. I’ve also been tempted by the .224 Valkyrie

what a weird, arbitrary caliber cut off

'yep, deem 25-06 are okay, short range and kinda weak, just don't let'em use deem 30-30 lever guns....cowboy killers day is'

Tell me about "iron sights" whether plastic or metal... Brands to prefer over others? Again, I'm not a gun guy and not really gonna spend time researching....u guys and my co workers are my source of info. I walked over to the gun store by my work that's doing the FFL stuff and he had some on the wall in stock but they were higher end stuff.. This is a budget minded gun build

I’ve only ever run either red dot optic or the MBUIS iron sites the run of the mil infantry uses. Bc I know with those mbuis I can shoot irons out to 300 consistently. But I look At those as optics so it’s one of the main things I’ll spend good money on, guns ain’t worth s*$# if it can’t be aimed. I like FAB or Magpul flip up sights also if I were doing a budget build. For reference good iron sights are anywhere from $100-$400. But I see a lot of people that only run red dots, but me personally it’s a sin not to have BUI (back up irons). But a sig Romeo 5 is less than $170 and it has a 60k hr battery life. But for the 3 ARs I currently run, the optics cost more than the rifles themselves.

Not iron sights but this is a really nice budget minded route on a scoped set up.
Mount
Scope

Yeah.... It's got be compatable with iron sights... That's 1 of the main reasons for choosing ar.... All the dang bolt guns don't have iron sights and that makes me crazy

Did a 350 legend last year, vortex makes a crossfire scope for straight wall cartridges it's a pretty accurate BDC with 180grain power points price was pretty decent also if I remember right.

I haven't had a new gun in a really long time....chubby when I opened the box...hehe

Magazines are in the mail, waiting on the lower, and when I go pick up the lower I get some flip up iron sights.... My boss has a nice raised scope base on his I gotta ask the name and order..I got a couple low end scopes already I can choose from and try out...if those don't work out I get something better I guess....the 1 scope is off a 243 I sold and it was pretty nice...Bushnell I think

Kinda pricey but the best irons I’ve ran are the Daniel Defense fixed iron sights. Much much better than any flip up option. Optics planet has a sight that is similar and half price but I don’t recall the name of them.

If you want to use some sort of optic + BUIS, I’ve really enjoyed these. Can’t beat the price and I’ve been really impressed with the quality.

Man you must be a youngin' for wanting iron sights still. I get the durability factor but none of us are getting younger. Your eyes will thank you if you go with a decent optic. Go with a 2-7 power scope for your main optic and mount a 45 degree for a red dot if you're worried about up close and personal. Be it man or beast.

I’m in the camp that back up irons are a thing that people think they need but they don’t. Most back up irons you see on an Ar15 have never been used to even make sure that they are adjusted to point of impact. On a shtf rifle I run a vortex 1-6x24 pst that functions as a scope and red dot. If the battery dies you still have the crosshairs. Add a 45 degree red dot if you’re worried about back up sights. But the flip up irons aren’t a great option. I want my backup to be as good as my main system.
