I've been using one of the water bottle pouches that EWO sells. It works fine for deploying the rope (I don't like to drop it, I just let it pull out of the top of the pouch through the existing water hose opening in the pouch lid, works fine), however stuffing the rope (I think I have 50' of resc tech, may be 40), madrock, carabiner, and autoblock (that I may retire) back in is somewhat annoying. I started dropping it all in my pouch and reorganizing at home later.
All in all, I may switch to a dropout pouch because they are slightly lighter, though the just dropping the rope in the bottom of my pack appeals as well, I don't like the pouch on my saddle sometimes walking/in the tree.
Or perhaps one of beason's creations, though I'd still need two hands either way. In fact I'd like to see this one-handed figure 8 rope coiling, regardless of how many hands you use to tuck it away afterwards.
