Cat Trax climbing sticks

I’m still planning on using my Sladder though!!! Just sayin’!
That system is cool and reminds me a whole lot of how Weldabeast has been climbing for a few years. Dude had me watching videos of Japanese rope climbing… It was awesome

So on the website Cat Trax is only $109.99 per 14” stick and it’s an extra $7.99 for an attachment method. If you use the stacking clips it’s another $9.99! Also worth mentioning we must be missing something because the website has my favorite phrase on it

I thought @woodsdog2 was asking about the tree styx. I am over these cat trax already. My bad…

Is there an industry standard definition of “third party tested”?

TMA is all but defunct at this point as a standards org. Its more of a membership organization.

The third party testing is held to ASTM standards (American Society for Testing and Materials)

The spec used for testing is primarily ASTM F3249, F2128, F2337

Is see what you have highlighted but I think you meant to highlight one line down, “this small town stick will rock your socks off.”

@Plebe can you find how much cut down LWs with single steps weigh w/o attachment method?

You can make or buy a single step stick 15-20” step spacing at 1.3-1.5lbs without an attachment method. This includes 1.5-2 ounces for a bolt and button.

You can weld a two step aluminum stick with no hardware needed for about 1.2-1.3lbs at same specs.

It’s pretty well fixed. You’re not getting below that, even with 1/16” wall tubing.

Maybe it’s just me but the button looks off centered on the site.

Yea I’ve made some myself over the years but was never obsessed with weight so I never paid attention to it much. Thanks

I asked some questions about the sticks. This is the answer I received.

"The distance from the back of the standoff to the front of the step is ~3.75". The steps and standoffs are made of a high strength aluminum alloy."

Well that’s better than I thought they would be. Beast sticks are about 3-5/8”

When I see a new product I always wonder about the guy who designed them.
I reasearched the owner of Cat Trax and I am starting to feel a little better about these sticks. He is a young guy but he does have a mechanical engineering degree.
At least he is not a old red neck like me. I would love to save 2lbs and
I hope he does well but I am not paying for a pre-order with a 6 month ship time.
