Cruzr Buckles

There are authorized resellers of AustriAlpin Cobra buckles here in the states including Rockywoods, MilSpec Monkey, and another company I've forgetting the name of - I'm very familiar with them but can't mention it in this thread. :sunglasses:

Edited, sorry about that.

This makes me want to find counterfit Cobra buckles, just to watch the world burn.

Don't trust the rating stamps on a part, but "feel" the webbing that came from god knows where and trust it. This thread is literally making my dumber.

As confirmed by the two typos in your three sentences. :tearsofjoy:
Teasing aside (and I really am just teasing, not trying to start something), it's easier for most folks to get a sense of webbing quality by feel than aluminum quality by feel. Also, webbing, much like steel, will typically give you a visual indicator (fraying, bending) before it fails, while aluminum just snaps without warning, so keeping an eye on those other materials can add peace of mind, unlike aluminum.

Lmao! Awesome justification.

I like the Cruzr leg buckles. They are light and stay hooked up. The waist buckle is maybe too light but I am depending on the bridge for safety. The old rope man 1 has crappy specs and is more important for safety IMO
I no longer use a rope man or Kong on my tether.

so a couple of years ago, i had a stand shift on me and eject me off, i fell forward my front buckle kept me in the harness, and my leg straps from falling all the way to the ground.
I kind of feel that this is in many ways like a fall when using a treesaddle.
While i may be mistaken.. my belief is this:
while the leg straps and belt are of less notice while tied to a tree, its the unexpected shift caused by failed ladder, when your transitioning to or from a platform etc. that these are important for. I would also suggest that if you fall while using a linesmens belt, while this may not stop your fall, leg straps would prevent the saddle going up to your arm pits.
Each person can choose to accept whatever risk they find acceptable. I upgraded the kite(backup saddle) to the raptor neo for easy on/off and quiet.

Full disclosure...

I had a Cruzr S the leg buckles would come unhooked under very little pressure. Like just trying to cinch them down. I guess it was a bad batch. Chad replaced the saddle.

But... that experience made me lose confidence in those buckles so I changed them out.

You changed your leg buckles out? If so, how did you do that? It seems you'd have to cut the webbing and then do some sewing. The belt buckle is easy though.

I cut the buckle off with a hack saw and am using tethrd T-hooks.

While I understand the desire for a reliable buckle, do the buckles actually ever carry your weight? Seems like they are useful for keeping the saddle from falling off when not using bridge or linesman, but when am I ever hanging from my buckles?
It won’t until something unexpected happens and you need it to. Routine vs unexpected function

Leg buckles are fine on the Cruzr XC.
Lots of guys have cut them off in the past.

Lots of debate over the years about how necessary they are. Many of the Tethrd crew used to cut them off.
I never have

i eliminated my tether ascenders as well. still use one on my LB but hanging from that all day is ehhhh. im sure its fine to use one on your tether but there's really no need once your set up. i think they actually take longer to adjust. especially with oplux b/c they pinch it so much.

I also like and have no concerns about the Cruzr leg buckles. I wasn't too concerned about the belt buckle, but I ended up replacing it just cuz why not. I prefer to have the leg loops attached, but I do find I need to loosen them a fair amount to be able to get the full benefits of the Cruzr comfort.
