Eberhart Signature Saddle Intro

Well I am not going to deny the craftsmanship of the products are top notch. The dirty politicking I see from them turns me off. After seeing the posts bad mouthing other companies and just plain arrogance displayed on FB by Corrigan Jan and Casey Jones I canceled my Merlin order. I would rather hunt from the ground than support those two.

Can you provide a link to these FaceBook posts I would like to see this badmouthing you are referring too?

Thanks,

All things considered and marketing aside Tethrd has made and continues to make very high quality saddles and platforms. Sure they had an early misstep with the gen 1 predator but to my knowledge (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong) there haven’t been any other widespread defects or failures with their products. If Tethrds ability to market their products has somehow diminished the quality of their products I’d love to see which products have somehow been affected by this conundrum.

And as much as we want to believe that the best products simply sell themselves your business can only grow so much with the absence of “marketing”. Marketing can be a critical factor in whether your business remains local and small time (I don’t say that in a condescending way, so don’t take it like that) or if it goes national or even global and captures a much larger percentage of market share.

That being said I believe both of these companies, regardless of country of origin, are making some of the best products on the market today.

Well I think the first batch of ESS slings are sold out. I think this post is about it. Good for John Eberhardt. Good marketing by tethrd.

Got mine all boxed up ready to ship back. The comfort it provides is irrelevant when all the bucks are gone for a mile because its so noisy. I'm sure someone could quiet this down wonderfully with some stealth strips, but the last 2 weeks I've must of gone through 2 canisters of butune for my torch to heat up my xacto knife cutting SSs for other gear. And quite frankly I'm tired of it lol I'm gunna place an order for the Cruzer XC. Won't get it till late in the season but I'm quite content with my LW .5 right now. Feel sorry for the chaps still waiting on a beast stand haha

D_Rek you didn't answer the question. As a consumer is quality and construction more important or marketing? I am speaking from the consumers' standpoint, not the manufacturer. No one claimed or inferred that marketing affects quality. I stated that I would rather see a company spend more on quality and construction and not on marketing, I think most consumers would agree with that statement. Others made the statement that Aero Hunter's marketing was subpar, which, I thought was very odd. I buy products on their quality and performance not because they have a clever ad campaign. I gave you an example that John Eberhart himself brought up regarding Vortex vs MeOpta binoculars. What does it matter to the consumer if the business stays local as long as the product quality meets their standards? We support many small businesses here on the saddle forum and without these "small-time" business owners we would not have so many outstanding products made by a local craftsman. Many of them aren't looking to go global or extend themselves beyond a local market. Also, I feel I get better service and support from small local companies than larger companies in most cases. To the local guy, I am way more important than I am to MegaCorp International! Why would the consumer care if a company captures more of the market share unless they would benefit directly from it? Again I feel that from a consumer standpoint their experience is more important than market shares or expansion.

Thanks,

Roger

Well hopefully the quality and construction is better this time around than it was when the flex was released. I guess we will see...

They were sold out in like 48 hours. Where have you been?....lol

I didn’t want one so I did not pay attention. I tried a method and recon. Both good. But sold them to family and another guy. I was going to keep the recon but my nephew wanted a saddle. I am going with a Cruzr XC and TX5 and JX3 this year.

But it has an adjustable bridge you can cinch down and eliminate that no?
You could, but it's not just that. Putting it on is extremely loud. The rings bang into the waist belt and leg loops if you choose to use them. You'd have to put it on at the truck and walk in. Then there's the possibility of banging into your steps as you climb with them. Then when you're hooked into the tree there's the possibility of banging your bow as you maneuver for the shot. Like I said, if you really want too, you could probably stealth strip it beautifully. But I'm done S stripping this year

it seems like stealth stripping the d rings would interfere with their intended sliding function

While there may be an "intended" sliding function, based on the testimonies and the ESS video, there is no practical sliding function. The bridge doesn't appear to slide when you shift positions or panel placement. Bigmike23 said no matter the position, the bridge is always in the same position. Even in the ESS video, the bridge is always directly opposite the webbing through the D-ring. All the forces from the webbing are equalizing at the D-ring given the way it is designed. If it was such a "big deal", you would think that would be highlighted in the video. Perhaps in the next ESS video John will provide a better explanation of the functionality of the bridge and D-rings.

Exactly. The bridge is always on the same spot on the D rings. Id put marks on the rings where the bridge falls on when there's tension, not stealth strip that part but the rest of the ring. And I obviously wouldn't strip where the 2 panels slide through and equalize.

The ESS yes it’s supposed to. Other than that what are your thoughts on it?
I received the clips with my ESS and they definitely do help with getting the saddle on. This was going to be my first saddle so you can imagine the confusion when I got it and how to put it on. I've only been able to try the saddle at ground level so far and can say that it is not uncomfortable, but also don't have anything to compare it to. It is made in China as it says so on the box and this was a drawback for me.

Where did you place the clips on the saddle?
