'Fess Up, Who Hunts out of a Prius?

I’m sorry but I’m not one of those guys who hunts out of a car/hybrid My truck gets me to point a to b all day long :p We’ll granted it does suck for gas but that means I got to do some extra finagling to get extra gas money LOL. I’m sure you haven’t look at the ford maverick pick um trux. It’s small like a hybrid and gets about the same gas mileage as one and it can tow and can carry dead critters without worrying about blood in the seats and what not and the price is better than a lot of used hybrids on the marketView attachment 69166
Seems "Quality is Job 3" these days...

Kinda like Tethrd.....

My 2017 v8, super crew f150 is getting about 20mpg with most driving around town. On the highway in cc, even better.

Gas is <$3.00 a gallon just south of here in KY. I'm sure it'll get cheaper later in the year for some reason.

We just went under $4/gallon probably 3 weeks ago. Hanging around $3.75 since then

Use to hunt out of a 2012 plugin Prius. It was great other than the seats sucked. I would drive up to the walk in point with electric - no noise.
Was loading a doe into the back at a local multi use spot and had a couple of really odd stares from people. Switched to a tundra and really miss the gas mileage of the Prius plugin- 69 mpg on average.

Just averaged 24 mpg with my full sized F150 fully loaded down with gear driving 1200 miles all over the Ottawa and Nicolet National Forests in Northern WI and the UP.

I’m good with that as i don’t see a Prius or any low clearance vehicle getting into ANY of the spots we were. And this was in July don’t even think about it without high clearance and 4 wheel drive once the snow flies. Not sure what you would do in a Prius driving two hours to a spot only to find a dirt road with 6 inch deep ruts all over it and mud filled pot holes just to save some money? Seems you could only hunt well groomed areas with nice gravel parking lots and such in a Prius which means a lot of other people also accessing those areas. Might work for guys who hunt strictly urban or suburban areas.

Hauls deer, kayaks and can sleep in the back with the backseats down and gets 31 mpg

Your accurate in my hunting areas. Most of the area is rural changing to suburban environment. Still plenty deer to hunt. If it's rough terrain, I walk or paddle into the areas. Few areas in the northeast/ New England aside from Maine require 4x4.
Prius will definitely not work in your hunting areas.

I do not know that I have ever driven a hybrid so I cannot speak to that. I caught a break and work got me a vehicle at the beginning of this year. I ended up with a rental for about 6 months due to a recall. That rental happened to be a minivan. Hunting out of a minivan happened to be extremely convenient. I even had space to let a few turkey fans dry out back there at the same time. I miss that thing.
I just sold a nice F150 4 dr and went back to a Caravan. I dont look as cool but they are just so handy.

I've got every angle covered.. put 5% tint on the Prius so no one can see me driving it, got a deer hauling old Toyota, and my dually does it all.
I have taken the Prius turkey hunting before.

I didn’t even have to take the kid seat out and fold down the rear seat. I love walking back to the trailhead and running into another hunter who says “oh we thought you were a hiker with that car”, especially when carrying something out.

Has your gas prices come down in the south there? Most places around me have got under $4. s.e. Michigan. Which is usually a little higher than the rest of Mi..
