First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

Got it. No paracord. My mistake.

I'll look into getting some 3/16 double braid. I see what you mean about lifeline.

How do you use your cam jam in your setup?

Camjam hard at work as we speak. A couple pics of spot I’m sitting at.

Yes that was it. Well if there is a chance of me losing my platform because the line is not heavy enough that won’t be my weak link. I’m using 8mm tether most people want more. Everyone to their own.

For sure. I think I would rather let the cord snap on a fall and then self rescue with the backup aider. Who knows, but I also thing there is less chance of pulling the platform down on you and smacking you in the head. Who knows?

Anyone on the fence about this method, it’s worth a try. I wish I would have seen bongos method of adjusting the strap for tree diameter while climbing before I sold mine. That was always a pain for me because I tried to do it while it was strapped to my feet. It looks a lot easier his way.

I have a new in box XOP Tree Shadow hand climbing stand that i wanted to sell.
I’m really considering keeping it and using it now.

A suggestion...buy a lw sit n climb top for your bottom section. Add a summit viper seat. It's the bomb, if u intend to still use a climber. Use hand climber top for saddle.

I climbed four different trees today. My butt is now in saddle shape.
I’ve been hunting 7 days average 3 trees a day. Have used Climber platform on all and have had sticks in case I needed them.
Missed my alarm this morning debating whether to hunt this afternoon. Tomorrow last day I will be there.

What are you using now? I had bought a set of the arms from a sit & climb and an extra traction belt so I could diy a predator platform into a climbing platform, but couldn’t hold out long enough for my predator to arrive.

For platform I ordered a predator. And for climbing method I’m using spike but going to try a combo of swaider/knaider and one sticking.

How is that going to work?

Well, I'll let you know exactly after i try but the way i push off from the tree with tether attach to lift the platform, seems to be the same function a linemans belt would render.

Ok. I'm just wondering how your going to hold yourself to the tree while being far enough away from the tree to actually climb. It's not as simple as sitting as with the the tether.

It would be interesting to see if that works. On the LW and XOP HCS on the side of the seat there’s a ridge cast into the platform to give the arms an angle not sure how much maybe 15* or so. Without it not sure it would work.

Guys I love the idea of having a lw hand climber as a foot platform. But one thing that iI hated. I have lots of swamp bottom trees were the base of the tree is large and it tapers down quick as u go up. That means I have to readjust the belt that puts me on my edge of not being safe. Using any typical climber will eventually fold over on itself if u don't adjust it.
That's why i started using a tree lounger climbing aid. It can't do that. It's the safest way to climb imo.
I also built one out of steel just so I would have another hanging around.
Check it out.

Love the idea, just too heavy! I'm curious to see how much weight you remove by switching to aluminum.

Great work keep it up! Life folks that are all DIY!
