In 2018 I bought a First Lite Woodbury jacket and Sanctuary bibs. The last season and a half has been rough and I've been getting busted more than I ever have since I started hunting in 2002. I was reading the other day about deer's ability to see UV light. I never considered it to be an issue because I use exclusively Seventh Generation detergent year round for all my clothes. I was messing around in the basement last night and I pulled out my UV light for fly tying and the damn thing glows like a Christmas tree. I went to First Lite's chat on the website and they said the DWR finish will reflect UV light, but they don't add brighteners. My bibs don't glow. Here's a side by side comparison between the bibs (rear) and jacket getting the same amount of UV light. Has anyone else found this to be an issue? Is there any way to remedy it? I've washed it maybe a dozen a more times in Seventh Generation over the last two years. I'm pretty pissed. IMG_2284.jpeg

Wow that is really glowing!!! DWR isn't super durable from my understanding. Have you tried using the dryer as well as washing? I know some people only line dry hunting clothes.

I know there are UV blockers out there that might work. At least might be worth a shot.

Maybe the soap you're using doesn't have uv blockers. Maybe it just doesn't have uv brighteners. Could be similar to this video....

This is interesting. I also hunt Woodbury/Sanctuary but in ASAT. I do have UV killer detergent and now I’m definitely going to use it.

Dont post too much about it or no one will buy it in the classifieds should you decide to get rid of it. ;) ... @Red Beard i was sooooo close to ordering some of that "closer" camo til your little experiment. Bought some uv blocker and a light to check stuff instead. All my crappy basspro camo is fine

Just kiddin. Jealous i cant afford it. Looks pretttty cool. Tusx camo makes an awesome camo pattern n without the brighteners but nothing for cold weather...

So is that how a deer actually sees that then?

It’s funny you brought this up!

I bought the soft shell set a few years back and noticed myself get pegged from across fields even! That one was blatant. I had the sun on me and the only thing I could think was UV!

So, this year I broke out some old 3D camo my dad gave me from his bow hunting days. Must be over 20 years old and slightly faded. Guess what, I’m not getting busted and in fact get away with more movement than ever before.

Time to list my gear.

I'm pretty certain the uv killer spray work. Before you get rid of the clothes that you paid premium$ for why not try the uv killer spray?

All is not lost fellas remember Timberpimp camo!!! But if it doesn't glow in UV it may not be a corncobs to corncobs comparison. IDK, sometimes I think we all worry too much. I know I can easily get caught up into some of this.

I don’t have the time to hunt that I used to, if a deer busts my UV it could be two-ten years before I get another chance!
