How are you hanging your bows?

Hey guys I’m sure there is a thread out there. I can’t find them. Maybe post them here. I’m using a HYS strap with a heroclip. I’m not a fan of how it can be difficult to get off. I saw the Tethrd bow strap holder and liked it. What are you using

So...Here is what I am currently thinking of trying this season. I took have the HYS strap and heroclip.

I use the Genesis 3D printed hanger threaded on 1” webbing with a buckle. I can clip the buckle and pull tight. I wrapped the hanger in 550 paracord also to reduce noise and give a little traction between my bow limbs and the slick 3D printer polymer. I have another clip on the opposite side of the tree for my backpack and quiver.

I have a DIY amsteel gear hanger that is a copy of a popular one (basically a daisy chain with lopsided loops so they stay open and it is tensioned with an aluminum nite ize carabiner thing).

I then have a hook on my bow that is basically metal bolted to the bow in a bushing and covered in felt. Tethrd makes something similar that bolts to the sight.

Having the hanger on the bow seems much more secure and it is quiet. It is weird to have something like that on your bow (not attractive), but I feel it is superior to hook your bow to a gear hanger versus put a hook on a gear hanger that you then hang your bow on.

I feel like having it on your bow is one less thing to lose or forget. Also helps me skip a step in my setup. Happen to have a picture of your gear hanger? I’m thinking amsteel daisy but I want a good way to secure it like the HyS strap

I’m personally considering going to the HYS strap though and using the kydex hanger you’ve mentioned. I’ve got some scrap lying around so I’ll likely make one to try. It just seems seamless when accessing your bow in a shooting scenario

Yep, i'll hook you up shortly.

I would advise to never use a gear hanger that doesn't tighten itself. Some folks use ones that rely upon the pack hanging from the end to keep them on the tree. That's a disaster waiting to happen. You'll be tired one early morning, go to lift your pack, and your bow will fall.

here's a thread I made right after I built the prototype

the finished version has the following modifications: slightly shortened the steel plate that the bolt goes through, bent that shortened steel plate out slightly so that it goes on gear strap better, coated the whole business with stealth strips once i was happy

here's the amsteel gear hanger

bowtechs have a bushing in the perfect spot for this, but tethrd makes an aluminum hook that goes on your sights (and there's tons of DIY options i'm sure you could come up with a few)

Is a system like this rigid? Idk how to explain it. When I grab my bow off my hero clip it moves so I have to wiggle my bow off. I want a solid public land friendly bow hanger. I’m hoping the Tethrd arm thing works

I bought this strap and then took some 1" wide by 1/16" or so aluminum and bent it in a J shape and then folded the long side to fashion a clip to go on the strap... all wrapped up to cushion/quiet the hook against the bow.

There was a video in the DIY section on here I think ?

I used a hero clip. I like the system I showed you a lot better.

There's no wiggling. You don't have to look at the bow or hanger. You reach for the handle and lift straight up, with maybe a little movement away from the tree. The hook on the bow does not move at all. Only the loose side of the daisy chain link moves at all.
