How have your T one sticks held up?

I've had mine for a couple of months, but honestly I've only tried them out 4 times. I'll get to practicing with them soon. I'm running aiders off of them on the bottom step (a three step on the first stick, two step on the second, then one step on the third), so that should put the bottom steps through their paces.

What is the logic behind this? Not trying to be combative/argumentative ..... legitimately curious

Not op but I have a 3-1-1 aider for my sticks. I like being able to hang my first stick higher and am more comfortable with the 3 step aider near the ground then I would be up higher.

Just to stretch my three sticks out a bit. I'd rather deal with more "aiderage" closer to the ground LOL.

I want a light weight awsome packing climber...
I do too...not a tethrd though. Nope... u get one strike n your out when it comes to me 30ft up in a tree. Hawk is out. Tethrd is out. Ill stick to ooal, trophyline, and ewo for anything metal where my feet go. Aerohunter on my butt. I feel safe n content

I would throw Beast in with your list.

Couldn’t agree more.

I’ve fallen 8 and 12’ out of trees onto my back. I’ve also been in two car crashes at 40 & 60 mph. The falls out of a tree each time hurt me worse than the car crashes.

Wow. This thread went sideways quickly. The OP asked “to those whove had them for a month or so now, how have they held up?”

One reply - the first one, post #2 - is the only post in this entire thread that provided what the OP was asking about……

True. I hope it is not a problem. The original tethrd platforms had a breaking issue too

I was wondering if the standoffs keep your feet too close to the tree

I think the angle out really helps that. I was fine with the distance from the tree. I didn’t like that upward point on the edge of the step that wasn’t comfortable.

If they fix this critical design flaw with the glue they will be great sticks. Until then I highly recommend staying away from them.

I could see that. Honestly though if you use a 3 step at the bottom do you really need the extra foot on the next couple steps? I guess is there really that big of a difference between say 16’ and 18’ that would make this tapering necessary? I rarely use sticks so The Whole concept with mini sticks and aides is foreign to me. I mean if we are doing all that why not build a rope style ladder and just use a prusik and carabiner tied in like a DRT rope only girth it at the bottom like old school SRT? The whole rig would weigh less than 7 lbs and get you as high as you wanted. If done properly you could fold it away in a back pack.. lol I might learn to make a you tube video just for experimenting this idea for all the guys using sticks and aiders....

Assuming conservative 16” aider steps, then a 2-step aider on second stick and a 1-step on top stick would add 4’ of height for very little weight and bulk. That saves carrying an extra stick.

I guess that makes sense. All that extra hanging and work is why I like climbing on ropes. It’s way less to carry or do in the long run. At least in my opinion

Ive never owned beast so im reluctant to say anything.

No problem. I’ve just gone through a few sticks too and thought they deserved a spot among the other good sticks you mentioned.

lol. What a shame... how hard can it be to make a stick to stand on? just kiddin! everybody whos tryin to build the "glass slipper" climbin stick please keep at it. They cant all be zingers...

What’s your point?

i was just making a friendly comment in reply to yours. i dont think people should stop creating things because their company put out a faulty product and failed. I dont want to see stagnation in the industry because some twat online (me) is raggin on product safety. If yrs down the road, hawk/tethrd come out with safe, innovative equipment and build a reputation back up ill probably give it a try again. Im not gonna be a test dummy between now and then though. Rather sit in a summit viper filled with lead. I think a huge part of making me feel safe is building it here in the USA. Without getting political, i think its only going to get worse for the next 4 yrs. My hawk sticks were probably safe to use but the build quality was so shoddy i never strapped em to a tree.

Agreed. I really like the Dan-O and Beast sticks. Hawk have worked fine but aren’t as well built. The glue problem with Tethrd would bother me. Glad I stayed away from that option.

Ok i see what happened. Someone said throw beast on the list. i took that as to add to my list of brands i dont trust and thought you were agreeing with that. thats why i said what a shame. haha You are saying add beast to my list of good brands! misunderstanding. I dont know anything about beast sticks from personal experience. i figured they ran into trouble like these guys or something.
