If it fits it ships

I know this is mainly about people showing off shoving critters into cars but what about coolers and packs? What is the minimum size cooler a deer or hog fit into? You guys that pack ur critters out what is the minimum liters a pack needs to be to fit a deer or hog?

I fit a medium 100-150 pound hog inside a 36can soft sided cooler with 1 large bag of ice. It was a tight fit and the shoulder strap wasnt rated for that weight but it fit.

An Alice pack is way overkill and I could probably fit 2 or 3 more deer inside. I don't even know how many "liters" an alice pack is but it's big

I’ve just discovered this thread… this doe was from a Few years ago. I had a hell of a time getting her into the trunk alone. I kept lifting half of her into the trunk, but when I’d lift her other half, she’d slide out. After a few failed attempts, I had to dead lift her whole body. My back barely survived. IMG_5401.jpeg

If you took the word "doe" out of that and didn't post a pic the fbi would be out your house already.

This is a great question. I plan to hit the youth hunt this weekend with the kids. It is a little warmer out, and will have to pack it into a cooler. I got 3 sizes. But not sure which one I will need.

I got a truck bc I was tired of stuffing deer in my Nissan Rogue lol

I don’t understand how a man in particular can’t not have a truck…it makes life so much easier. I know the gas mileage sucks, and sometimes it’s hard to get them in a tight parking spot, but y’all don’t know how much better you life is with a truck! My wife has an SUV, and I have 2 kids. We still take my truck on family rd trips. You know how much crap you can put in the back of a truck? About 3 times as much as you can put in any SUV. All one needs is a roll up tonneau cover. Most importantly they are so much safer than any car you drive. Bigger equals safer, I don’t care what safety features are on you car, a truck is safer.

Back on topic…when I was in high school I went to class with a doe strapped to the trunk of an 87 Grand Am with a 30-30 lever action in the back seat. That’s before people went nuts about guns in cars at school. The Principal made me take it home at lunch.

Eh I get it, I had nothing but cars my whole life never needed a truck, only reason why I got a truck is I got out the navy and moved back home and now off grid and I hunt, if I didn’t hunt I wouldn’t own a truck at all. I don’t tow anything don’t even own a trailer. Sure it’s helpful but it also gives your friends a reason to bug you for a pullout or to help move. I would change your statement to I don’t see how any man living in the country wouldn’t need a truck. Most people in cities don’t even need vehicles at all so a truck would be a little rediculous. I have 5 boys and we take the wife’s explorer st for all the family stuff bc it can fit more than my f150 supercrew and safety also my wife’s explorer is much safer than my f150 so that kind of voids your argument also. The truck thing I get, what I can never wrap my head around is why someone would buy a V6 muscle car but then again who am I to say bc my f150 is a twin turbo 3.5 and it runs circles around my supercharged 6.2 raptor. I guess my main concern is why a man has any concern about how another man should live his life. A lot of it has to do with money, bigger the toy the bigger the bill.

I don’t care what anyone drives…to each there own. I’m just saying after owning cars, SUV’s and trucks both 1/2 ton, and 3/4 ton, I don’t see how a man would rather have a car or then a truck. I have also lived in the city. I lived in Atlanta for 4 yrs while attending GA Tech. I drove a Chevy 1500 long bed. I now drive a 3/4 ton diesel into the same city on a daily basis. I never said a truck was safer then an SUV, I said car. I’d be in an SUV on road trips too if I had 5 kids, but I don’t see how you can get more stuff in an Explorer trunk then you can a bed of a truck with a Tonneau cover on it. I didn’t do the math but I believe a truck bed’s volume is much greater than the room behind the back seat in most SUV’s.

I hear ya. I’ve only ever had trucks and am debating what my next vehicle will be. But, my girlfriends car is a turbo diesel and gets 40 miles per gallon. The only really limitation for hunting is that you can’t drive or down a logging road.

Depends on the situation, the cars I had were much funner to drive than my truck and much better on gas but like I said before I only own a truck bc I hunt, otherwise I could get by without one. yeah definitely as far as “crap” a truck bed can fit much more than an SUV. I was mainly talking bodies. And you can drive in the city it’s just a nightmare, I lived in Chicago and San Diego and never needed a vehicle in either of those cities and if I did a truck wouldn’t be on the menu lol in all seriousness though I found much hilarity in stuffing deer in my Nissan, made me laugh every time driving around, cleanup was a mess but since the kayak and wall tent came into my hunting repertoire I need a truck. Now one thing I can get behind is why buy a truck that isn’t 4WD? 4WD to me is like a gun, good to have but never need but be d****d if you need it and don’t have it.

Hold my beer and watch this....

I had a hitch added to my new Outback before I even bought it. I put deer in the back of my Chevy Equinox, but the hitch carrier will be much nicer!

Can confirm a Virginia deer will also fit in the trunk of a Volvo S60. My wife was NOT impressed. Also, would NOT recommend draping a blood covered tarp over the car to spray it off. I thought I was sneakies until I saw the wife staring through the storm door with an “I can’t believe you thought that was a good idea” look on her face which was followed by a “just wait until the kids aren’t in earshot” expression.
I guess I wouldn't want to "dirty" up my pickup either.

Meh. I’d change it to “I don’t know why any country boy in his 20s wouldn’t want a truck.” I have 4 kids and my job requires I entertain clients regularly so I’ve always had full-size SUVs but now I’m driving an XC90 that I had no trouble carrying my last 3 deer inside; I’ve brought home 40 4x4x8s in it in one trip(all doors closed), and another time 15 bags of concrete… it’s got almost 9” ground clearance- more than a lot of trucks. I’ve never had a need to test it’s limits but it does everything I need it to. 90% of the guys I know with trucks have never put anything in the back that wouldn’t fit in the trunk of a Ford Focus. Granted my father in law has a beater truck I’ve borrowed a few times for dirt and mulch but generally if I need to move more than I can fit in my grocery-getter I’ll rent a uhaul or have it delivered. I’ve thought about getting a truck but why have a third vehicle I use once every 2-3 years. Driving a truck is about image not practicality. I’d like one for that reason but I’d rather spend the 80k on a new piece of hunting property.
I am seriously considering getting a Thule Hullavator and loading the next one on the roof instead of inside in a jet sled.
