Due to being so efficient, I have 6 young kids which limits when I can hunt, not complaining, just stating my blessing. With jujitsu class, dance class, soccer practice, etc. It take a lot of planning and sacrifices by my wife to find windows for me to go hunt.
So stars aligned and I'm going out on opening day this Friday. Forecast is rain and possible thunderstorm in the afternoon. Wife said I can keep hunting but I need to get down from the tree if it starts raining.
No, I'm not carrying a bucket with me. Don't have time to go look/buy a stool. so options are:
1) I have a knee cushion, so I figure I can just put it on a fallen log and sit on it. Move a few branches to provide some covers.
2) Also have a platform, so maybe cam it against the tree and us it like a tree seat.
3) Use the same saddle setup but on ground level.
4) Adjust my height and be at 7ft.
Using a traditional bow. At first I was looking at bow stand or hanger for the ground, but I'm not going to overthink this. Just going to lay the bow across my knee.
Since I have never hunted on the ground before, I know a part of me is over thinking this. Ground hunting should be less gear focused and more about staying still and good cover. But beside the basic that I'm reading up on. Any tips or tricks that I should know? So what things should I have with me that would allow me to stay in the same area but on the ground?
Thoughts or opinions?
Right now I'm going with option 1.
