Let us know if you encounter loosening or slippage please. Personally I think it’s unacceptable for them to be shipping these with straps that loosen. It’s incredibly dangerous. I had modified mine to add buckles and the slippage or loosening got me into some real hairy and dangerous situations so I Went back to leather straps. I want to buy these but not if they slip.

The straps that come with the hunter version come with a strap keeper. So far (only two times in them) nothing seemed to slip or loosen. I do have them so tight that I'm barely able to get them to buckle.

Only feedback we had for Dale was to make the upper straps longer. With bulkier outer layers one would struggle with the upper strap length. We actually told him to make them about 8-10 inches longer and people could trim the excess off if they didn’t like it.

I want to order these climbing spurs. What’s the difference between the short and long tree gaf? How do you know what to get?

Short is like a pole gaff and the long is like a tree gaff

Short are easier to learn on but long are less likely to gaff out on soft bark trees. I have the long. It was harder to learn but after ten trees of practice I practically run up the trees.

I would message Dale on Facebook. He didn’t charge us extra for the straps and we kept the others as well.

As someone who owns a pair of his spurs I’d recommend that you buy the gecko spurs...I’ve had issues with Dale on service work, he’s pretty poor when it comes to customer service.
