I jimmy’d this paddle board and trolling motor together a few years ago to get around and shoot fish. It was slick.

At some point, I want to build a "motor assisted" canoe or kayak. No steering, just a thrust option to help you out in a current or to close the last few yards of a stalk. Inboard electric motor, or something like that. Something that was one, sleek unit; as opposed to a battery+motor+boat affair.

I love the laziness and stealth of trolling motors, but hate futzing around with batteries and transom clamps. If I could just cartop and throw it in the water as-is, that would be sweet.

Maybe someday...

I agree. The battery and other BS was easily a 10-15 minute set up and a PITA

Scooped
"Plenty of room for sandwiches and beer I the seat compartment"

Cause I want to make sure I'm hammered when I fall of the back and get chewed up by that prop when I'm flying at 35mph!
Worth it. I want one now.

I used to have a 12' aluminum fishing boat with an old evinrude motor. Like a dummy, I got rid of it. I'd like to get another small fishing boat someday. My workhorse for hunting and fishing is my Old Town Discovery 158. I like the hull design for paddling in rivers. It's very stable and easy to turn. Can't wait to get it back on the water!

Found some more up at my dad's cabin on the Sepulga today.

Old Town Discovery 146 (red) and Coleman Scanoe (green).

$50 craigslist 12ft jon that I've been meaning to pair with a 5ph johnson as a cartop combo. It only leaks a little bit. :) Super thin gauge aluminum, weighs less than a lot of canoes.

Similar to the old town predator?

Blegh, snow is icky. I'll take snakes.

I had to dig for pics of this one. Couldn't find my actual boat, but this is the SwampRat1036 model from Dalton's Boat Works outta Louisiana. 10ft long, 3ft wide, about 60lbs. Fiberglass. Interesting little booger that was surprisingly stable and moved well with a trolling motor. It just sat in a weird in-between place for me and didn't get used enough to justify keeping. She was fun though.
